Message Board Do's and Don'ts

Welcome to the message board community. Before you start sharing your thoughts and questions with other message board members, we suggest that you review these ground rules first. Familiarizing yourself with these guidelines will help you understand what type of conversations are (and are not) permitted between members and will also help us continue to provide a forum that is fun, safe and informative.

  1. 1. Be Courteous, Respectful and Tolerant of Each Other

Not all message board members will share your same views. Although it is acceptable to disagree, we ask that you treat one another with respect. Abusive, threatening, demeaning or harassing language is not permitted nor are personal insults or attacks especially those aimed at sexual orientation, gender, color, race, religion or disability. We reserve the right to remove any posts that we deem to be unsuitable.

  1. 2. Keep it Clean

We encourage personal expression, however, we ask that members refrain from using profanity and posting and soliciting messages, images or links that may seem vulgar, obscene or objectionable to others. We also ask that users refrain from creating user names that may be considered inappropriate or offensive to others.

  1. 3. Protect Your Personal Information

As this is a public forum, we suggest that users not share any type of personal information including, but not limited to, addresses, telephone numbers or e-mail addresses with one another. Posts that request any type of personal information are prohibited.

  1. 4. In Your Own Words

Message board members should not post messages that contain information that is copyrighted or owned by an individual or entity. Should this occur, the individual will be held solely responsible and The Vitamin Shoppe and Bodytech will not be held liable for violating copyright laws and regulations.

  1. 5. Share Your Words But Not Commercial Advertisements

We ask that message board members refrain from including commercial advertisements in their posts which include links to specific commercial sites. If relevant to your post though feel free to link to products within our store.

  1. 6. Be Yourself

Message board members are prohibited from impersonating other members or posing as employees of The Vitamin Shoppe. If you suspect that someone is impersonating you, we suggest that you report the situation by sending an e-mail to Community AT vitaminshoppe DOT com.

  1. 7. Stay on Subject

Before you post a message, take a moment to ensure you are posting it to the correct message board. By doing so, there is a greater chance your question will be answered. Please do not post the same question more than once across multiple message boards.

  1. 8. Do not Make Disease or Medical Claims

We ask that our message board members not make medical and disease claims for supplements. In other words, you may share that a supplement helped you maintain your “heart health” but you cannot say that a supplement treated or cured your “heart disease.”

  1. 9. Inappropriate Messages

The Vitamin Shoppe reserves the right to delete any message as well as ban any user who violates the above message board rules and or the message board policy and guidelines. Although we monitor our boards, we encourage users to report any objectionable post by clicking on the “Report Violation” button.

  1. 10. Get the maximum benefit from our experts' advice.

Although they give it their best effort, our experts can't always respond to every individual post. We recommend keeping your discussion topics as broad as possible - that way our experts can provide answers for as many community members as possible, and other members of the community can participate in the discussion too. This will ultimately give you the benefit of both our experts' advice and the shared experience of the larger community. Please note that our experts cannot diagnose your individual condition, and posts requesting specific diagnoses will be taken down when they appear. Additionally, our experts can only make general recommendations of ways you can support your health. They cannot prescribe medications for your specific disease or condition - instead, you should consult with your personal physician.
