Comments about Allergy Research (Nutricology) Magnesium Citrate (170 MG) - 90 Capsules:

I've been taking 1 capsule bi-daily for 3 months now, and so far so good. I take it between meals as the instructions state. Any effects are subtle, like far fewer leg cramps (used to get cramps several times a day), and I'm pretty sure that I'm not doing anything else differently. I haven't noticed any difference in bowel movements. My hair stylist and I have noticed that my hair roots have been growing in very dark (much darker than normal), with a marked reduction in new white hairs. We cannot figure out why this is happening. Very coincidentally started about the time I started the magnesium supplements. As I am a first-time magnesium supplement user, I cannot compare this brand or formulation to any others.

Comments about Allergy Research (Nutricology) Magnesium Citrate (170 MG) - 90 Capsules:

This magnesium works almost as well as the "Natural Calm" magnesium supplement. This is a good alternative if you want a magnesium in a capsule form. Most people need at least 600mg to 1000mg daily to benefit from magnesium. I take it for my muscles, my muscles get tight and this relaxes them. I was told by my Nutritionist that I had excess calcium in my tissues which was causing my muscles to get tight. He said calcium causes tight muscles while magnesium relaxes them. Don't take more than 3 capsules in one dose otherwise you may get loose stools. If you do, just lessen the dose till you get comfortable bowel movements. Magnesium is good for occasional constipation too since it relaxes the bowels and it's gentler than laxatives. And magnesium is also very good for headaches too.

Melissa G: Magnesium citrate is supposedly one of the more absorptive types of magnesium supplement. There are more effective types available, but this seems to be a good balance between effectiveness and cost for me. I also like that that this is in capsule form rather than tablets, which are heated and pressed during manufacture. Oct 30, 2012
A Vitamin Shoppe customer asked: Label says free of all "common" allergens but do not list them. Does this product contain any of the following: soy, dairy, eggs, fish, citrus? Feb 22, 2014

Melissa G: Ingredients listed: magnesium (as magnesium citrate); hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate. Elsewhere on the label is the text: This nutrient is of the highest quality and purity obtainable, and does not contain preservatives, diluents, or artificial additives.

I presume from the above that there are no appreciable contaminants. You will have to contact the manufacturer for more technical specs.
