FIrst and foremost, I'd like to say that this is a completely honest account of my experience with this product. I weighed in at about 190 lbs at one point, I exercised it off to 160 lbs, and between 160-155 lbs, I had a lot of trouble loosing the extra weight and reaching 140 lbs. My next step was to try something new.

I found Almased online after doing tons of research. I was completely skeptical and uncertain about the product, but I decided to try it. It is important to follow all of the guidelines in order to be successful. It is important to stay focused, stay on track with the steps, portions, and so forth. Using this as a method of cleansing, to jump start your metabolism is absolutely great, plus it works!

I drank about 4, 8-10oz shakes of Almased daily. Every day I was literally loosing a pound. Drinking Almased kept me full, completely satisfied, and diminished many of my cravings. The longer I did it for, the more determined I was to be successful. After seeing results so quickly, I decided to commit to Almased for a minimum of 10 days, and I lost a total of 8-10 lbs. I broke over the plateau and succeeded in loosing the weight intended.

I definitely recommend it. It works just as long as you follow the instructional guide. It also helps to read other reviews and watch videos on peoples' experiences with the product to see how it works for everyone and what people do differently or similarly as a guiding tool, but generally, the instructional guide should be your source of guidance.

almased mixed up great in my bullet with unsweetened almond milk. added flax and chia seeds, a lil olive oil and some walnuts. tasted fabulous, consistency was palatable and it left me satisfied. the down side, which was a big one, was it left me with a metallic taste in my mouth and my stomach and bladder in complete upheaval. there's a ton of added vitamins and minerals in this that overwhelmed my body. (especially the potassium and iron) all of that is not needed. it also contains dairy. a note for anyone who is sensitive. i would love the product if it was just not over packed with extras

As I've gotten older diet and exercise no longer work it seems. I tried all types of diets and exercise and was just getting fatter and fatter. I lost 30 lbs in two months and was not hungry! And the weight stayed off after returning to healthy eating (as I was doing before using this product) I am so thrilled and it tasted delicious! Add a little cinnamon and some flavored olive oil when using a meal replacement. Awesome!!!

Comments about Almased - 17.6 Ounces Powder:

Ok let me start by saying I only wish I found this stuff sooner. I got married in 2011 and weighed 269 and losing weight. After 6 months of marriage and living with a 15 year old I gained 67 pounds. I have NEVER EVER been over 305 in my life. I could not lose it or I would lose 10 pounds and put it back on again. After 3 years I finally had enough and I started walking, drinking regular protein drinks, trying pills from hydroxycut to green tea and I only lost 10 pounds but I looked toned.

Then the big bomb hit me...I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH DIABETES!!! It is hereditary. I did not have high blood pressure, cholesteral problems or anything else just my darn sugar. So I was more motivated to lose the weight. I worked out and ate right but could not get the pounds off...yes inches but not pounds. It wasn't until we were getting ready to go and visit my home town that I was reading through my Diabetic Living magazine and I saw this product. I researched it and I found 2 things...it tasted gross but it worked. I tried it and IT TASTES GROSS BUT IT WORKS. I started the end of August 2014 and I lost 8 pounds the first week. Now mind you it is not water weight because I have already been dieting and exercising. I lost the 10 pounds from the protein drings from feb to august. August 8 pounds and before I went on vacation mid Sept another 4 pounds. I was down to 315 (I think the math is right) I was just happy to be 22 pounds lighter. I ate like nobodies business and thought for sure I gained the weight back but after a week on vacation when we came home I only gained 5 pounds. I went back on the shake end of Sept and I am now 299 298 this morning. I am telling you I have not eaten right, every once in a while I go for a walk and I am keeping the weight off. I am going to restart mid this month because I still have 50 pounds to go. But honey this stuff works!!!!!

If you have any questions let me know. I use V8 flavored diet drinks, ice and the shake in my bullet. Its tolerable. The taste is gritty like cream of wheat but the taste is bland and yucky. However, remember when your mom used to put you in the ugliest boots for winter and you didnt like it but it kept you warmer than the cute stuff....this is like that. The nasty stuff is the stuff that works!!!

Those that are on the fence about Almased, it DOES work... the key is to closely follow the directions, change your diet, and of course exercise. I suggest adding cinnamon for flavor, but once you get used to it, its just fine.

This shake product is a little grainey even making it in a blender but it does fill you up. I used non-fat milk and some cinnamon at times. It should be consumed all at once as the directions say, so the taste is okay this way. Drinking one shake did sustain me as a meal would.

Comments about Almased - 17.6 Ounces Powder:

This product is wonderful, does the job,and is worth the money. I have used this product for the past few months to fast at least one day a week if not two, and then back to a high protein/low carb program for the rest of the week.
The weight is coming off slowly and regularly as it should - 35 lbs to date with 17 more to go to reach ideal. I prefer to sweeten the product with a little bit of artificial sweetener, a touch of vanilla extract, and a little cinnamon. I sometimes will add a little fruit as well. The product is always blended with fresh water. Very tasty and satisfying with 3 shakes a day supplemented with V-8 low sodium juice, tea, and my daily vitamins.

Suggested serving size is 8 Tablespoons per shake, so if I have done my math correctly, this can will only last 2 days at the most if you drink 4 shakes per day. Is this correct? What I want to know is how many shakes are you able to get from one can? Because if this is true, I realize, even though your product has good reviews and may work, it would be extremely costly, even more so than professional diet centers. Thank you!

Best Answer: It depends on your height/weight. I only take 6 T and have 2 shakes a day with a light meal. There is a direction insert inside can.

Any ideas on what to add to Almased to make it more tolerable? I tried cinnamon and vanilla extract - didn't taste too good. I really need help.

Best Answer: I also get the Lemon Zest Fish Oil Smoothie out of the fridge at Vitamin Shoppe. It provides the Omega 3s. I love the lemon flavor and it makes my Almased drink taste not only more tolerable, but it actually tastes really good. I make my Almased with skim milk most of the time, rather than water. Then I squirt in some Lemon Zest Smoothie. Using the milk makes it more creamy, and using the Lemon Smoothie makes it taste like a Lemon Meringue Pie. I did not like the Strawberry-banana nearly as well.

                    Debbie M on May 6, 2014
Best Answer: The first week, all three meals were replaced with Almased. One container did not last the week. It also depends if you use 8 T. or 6 T. I think I went through one and a half containers.

When I start the shakes do I have to drink 3 a day or can I start out with drinking one shake for breakfast and a healthy lunch, one shake for dinner and do 30 minutes of exercise every other day. Also when drinking the shake as a meal replacement , can I eat a piece of fruit or have a serving of vegetables with the shake?
                    Debbie M on May 6, 2014
Best Answer: I couldn't drink 3 shakes a day. Breakfast and dinner are good and fruit or vegetable I think is appropriate.

can I mix fruit with the drink such as strawberries, blueberries ect. to give it a better taste. I have not purchased yet but don not want to be turned off by the taste?
                    Debbie M on May 6, 2014
Best Answer: almased tastes great on its own, but I add fruit and a little stevia for sweetness and it makes a great smoothie. Almased also recommends adding a little oil such as coconut to minimize the glycemic effect of the fruit.

Is Almased used as a meal replacement or partial replacement such as for breakfast of mid day meal? Based on personal experiences, how it Almased most effectively used?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on Jul 6, 2013
Best Answer: Hello, Almased is a meal replacement. To optimize your results, you drink a shake for each meal for the first 2 weeks. In between meals, you can drink as much water and vegetable broth you want. After this initial period, depending on how much weight you desire to loose or how quickly you wish to shed the pounds, you can replace one or two meals per day...making sure of course the meals you make yourself are well balanced. I also recommend this product for someone who needs some extra nutritional assistance during the day. I drank this while I was undergoing chemotherapy, so I knew at least a couple times a day I was getting a decent meal.

                    does this work?
                    glenna c on Jul 9, 2014
                    Best Answer: Glenna,

This DOES work... ts rough the first few days getting your body used to a liquid diet. As far as the taste, I usually add some cinnamon to mine and it tastes just fine, you can try adding vanilla or almond extract to "season", also, I used unsweetened vanilla soy or almond milk- make a HUGE difference compared to water... With this diet, you'll need to go a full week of nothing but Almased for your 3 meals, no snacking- when you do get the urge to snack, I suggest having a V8 (low sodium).. and also supplementing with flaxseed oil... on your second week, I would recommend having almased in the AM, a small lunch (salad, chicken, or fish), and for dinner back to almased... in addition to that, you gotta work out... even if its just going to a speed walk, I came down 10 pounds so far and this is heading into my 4th week.. dont give in to cheating or snacking, this will help your body level out and get your metabolism jump started... remember to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated...

                    Chers.

I am a diabetic. mWill this help with my blood sugar spikes?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on Aug 15, 2013
Best Answer: Almased is a Diabetic friendly product. It has very low glycemic load of 4, and a glycemic index of 27. In studies it has shown to help maintain healthy blood levels (HbA1C), as well as helping the body maintain healthy insulin levels. It is also a great tool to help those diabetics whom struggle to loose weight...while maintaining insulin levels your body will have an easier time burning fat. I hope that answered your question.

                    Marcie A on Sep 7, 2014
Best Answer: I have type II and rely on low dose oral medication. I do not use Insulin. I have had NO negative results in blood sugar. I have been using it for at least 6 months. I was a little hesitant not because of the "honey" but because some nutritionist are not supportive of "soy" but then again others are.

Can you supplement this for one meal a day and still lose weight? I would like to try this product but I found that most of these products advise that you use twice daily to see results. I am at 200 pounds and I have tried everything in the book, just wanted to know if anybody still seen results with just dropping that last evening meal with Almased.
