Comments about Bernard Jensen Products Bovine Gelatin - 14 Ounces Powder:

I had been looking for a kosher, beef gelatin, and came across this. My hair, skin, and nails look a LOT better since taking it! The only thing that I don't like is the fact that it gels...which is great if you're making jello with it, but if you're taking it as a supplement, then it becomes hard to find a way that you can take it that's not too horrible. I have tried putting it in juices, drinks, coffee, smoothies, etc. and NONE of them worked for me because it just gelled too quickly and became simply gross. The only way I've been able to get it down is to put 2 large scoops in a cup of almond milk, with some honey...stir quickly and eat it with a spoon. It has no taste, but adding those things makes it almost a treat-if you don't like the consistancy of thick goo, you may not like this-you have to eat/drink it fast, because it gels quick!

Comments about Bernard Jensen Products Bovine Gelatin - 14 Ounces Powder:

Even when I am going very strict Paleo, I still take a tablespoon of this product, first thing every day. It is excellent not only for skin, hair, and nails; but also for the health of your digestive system. Excellent quality and neutral in flavor; I also make coconut milk puddings with it.

Comments about Bernard Jensen Products Bovine Gelatin - 14 Ounces Powder:

I usually add this product to juice, though I don't fully dissolve it (it adds a texture kind of like oj pulp to my juice). It's pretty much flavourless and easy to use. The Great Lakes gelatin is really expensive to buy in Canada, so this is a better value for me.

Dissolve in water or juice. Sometimes add black cherry concentrate. Comparison to Great Lakes Gelatin - dissolves better, higher protein level and less of a bovine flavor. Bernard Jensen a little more expensive. Haven't noticed a huge difference in joints, nails, hair but am taking 1 table a day - possibly need more?

Unsweetened gelatin is a great way to get some quality protein in me. I use it also to thicken soups and sauces. Good quality here at Vitamin Shoppe.

Hi, can you tell me more about the source of the beef? ie Is it grass fed & has it been administered with antibiotics & hormones or other meat enhancing additives?

Is this gelatin from grass fed, organic bovine?
                L G on Nov 13, 2013
Best Answer: I do not know the quality of the cows' diet. I do, however, know that this gelatin is recommended by the Weston A Price Foundation. They are very concerned with good farming practices (like grass fed meats) and typically don't recommend products from poor sources.

Does this manufacturer use grass-fed, hormone and anti-biotic-free cattle?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on Oct 29, 2015
Best Answer: It might be best to contact the manufacturer directly. I have been using it for about a year and a half, and like the quality of it, and it feels like a very 'clean product".
Here is the address from my label: Marketed by Bernard Jensen Products, Solana Beach, CA 92075. I bet you can contact them from their website. Take care !

Could you tell any difference after taking this product? How much did you take?
                Fern G on May 25, 2014
Best Answer: I remember using it solely for a gelatin recipe. I couldn't tell any difference after having it.
If you're looking to take gelatin therapeutically, try Great Lakes collagen hydrolysate. Follow directions and dosage on the label. I could tell the difference after taking it. Good luck.

Best Answer: On label of the powder which I use it states that i Tablespoon (TBSP) has 12 grams of protein. Perhaps someone else knows how much protein is in their tablet ?
