Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe BioCell Collagen with Hyaluronic Acid 1000 MG - 60 Veggie Caps:

Biocell really works well to thicken my hair and skin. When I take Biocell, my hair is noticeably thicker in about a month. My skin is not "paper-thin" anymore. Most Hair/Skin Vitamins work on one or the other, but Biocell improves both Hair and Skin.

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe BioCell Collagen with Hyaluronic Acid 1000 MG - 60 Veggie Caps:

The product is easy to take (swallow), and there's no taste or aftertaste or scent of the capsules. I believed it worked okay. The quantity is not enough to experience a change. I didn't take 2 capsules twice a day all the time because I wanted to "stretch" the amount so they can last a bit longer. The product worked for me in terms of flexibility and less knee discomfort. I didn't really notice a difference in my skin, but a bit difference in joint flexibility. Not much but some. I don't think that I would repurchase. I will look for another product that has the same ingredients as this one but more health enhancing ingredients. Lastly, the product didn't have any side effects, no stomach upset, or breakouts.

Originally, my husband heard this supplement could help joints and promote weightloss. The weightloss proved false, but it has been remarkable help with our joints. I had Trigger Fingers in 4 fingers,(I had to straighten a bent finger by unbending it with my other hand) and thought that I would need surgery. After about 6 months, 75% of my symptoms were gone. After taking it for a year and a half,I have full mobility in one hand,(can even snap my fingers again!) and a small trace of the problem in one finger of the other. My husband swears by this product for his knee flexibility.

The store was out of my usual hyaluronic acid & recommended this instead. The fact it said WITH hyaluronic acid should have warned me to check what was in it. I didn't have my glasses & no one told me it contains chondrotin sulfate. When I began getting worse instead of better, I pulled out my glasses & read the label. If you are allergic to this, it will harm instead of help!

This product is always in my cabinet. I originally discovered it from another company, but I found they were too expensive. The VS brand gave me the same results at a better price. I am 47 and I lift weights daily and have been riding in skateparks for many years, this product keeps me flexable and looking 10 years younger. 5 stars.

I've been taking this product for about a month. My intent for taking this product was to make my hair grow faster, I have not noticed if this has worked. What I have noticed is that my hair loss as far as my brush and bathroom floor are concerned is non existent and my nails and skin are healthier looking. Also, my knee usually swells a bit after running and this is no longer the case. All in all I'm very happy with this product but can't give it five stars because my hair is not appearing to grow any faster than usual.

As I licensed Hairdresser I can tell you that hair grows 1/2" a month there aren't any products or supplements that will make your hair grow faster.

Best Answer: I don't know if age is relevant. You seem fairly young, and I wonder why you are considering this supplement. I am 66 years of age, and I use it for joint health and for softening of fine lines and wrinkles. A doctor friend of mine suggested I try it, so I did.

Is this product suitable for vegans - does it contain any animal products?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on Jun 9, 2013
Best Answer: Collagen comes from animals and I've never had anyone refute it. There is no vegan source - evasiveness and vagueness accompanies most queries, so just avoid it if you don't want to ingest an animal product. I wish someone could prove collagen can be obtained otherwise.

Best Answer: I haven't the expertise to answer, but I can make the assumption that, in the case of this supplement, an empty stomach assists in the absorption of the contents.

Best Answer: No, it is not vegetarian. Don't know why they bothered putting it in veggie caps since both collagen and chondroitin are from animals.

Best Answer: The main structural protein found in animal connective tissue, yielding gelatin when boiled. Collagen defined: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia - Collagen /?k?l?d??n/ is a group of naturally occurring proteins found in animals, especially in the flesh and connective tissues of vertebrates.[1] It is the main component of connective tissue, and is the most abundant protein in mammals,[2] making up about 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content. Collagen, in the form of elongated fibrils, is mostly found in fibrous tissues such as tendon, ligament and skin, and is also abundant in cornea, cartilage, bone, blood vessels, the gut, and intervertebral disc. The fibroblast is the most common cell which creates collagen.

In muscle tissue, it serves as a major component of the endomysium. Collagen constitutes one to two percent of muscle tissue, and accounts for 6% of the weight of strong, tendinous muscles.[3] Gelatin, which is used in food and industry, is collagen that has been irreversibly hydrolyzed.

Best Answer: "The hyaluronic acid that is used as medicine is extracted from rooster combs or made by bacteria in the laboratory."

While the Vitamin Shoppe may claim that the capsules are vegetable-based--and we can assume that they are for the sake of this discussion--but the main active ingredient usually comes from chickens.

Please note that I'm just another customer. This question really should be answered by the company.
