Jessica W: I like to use Bromelain powder to relieve thick nasal congestion during a cold. With out it, I have a lot of chest congestion for weeks afterwards. Two or three times a day while having a cold, I will mix 3-4 heaping teaspoons into a hot cup of tea or into a cup of orange juice. I use it for myself and my ten year old. I don't believe so. The enzyme used for tenderizing meat is papain, derived from papayas, and that is the product sold in supermarkets for that purpose.
