Comments about Vitamin Shoppe Calcium Citrate + Magnesium & Vitamin D - 300 Capsules:

I had to give this 5 stars. The price was great, the value was great, the ease of use was great, and the effectiveness was great. I chipped/broke a bone in my foot 5 weeks ago. I had an x-ray two weeks ago which showed that the bone hadn't fused at all. I then went and bought this to aide in the healing of my bone not really expecting much. I ended up running my marathon last week (just 4 weeks after my broken bone). I saw my podiatrist just a few days ago and he told me the bone had completely fused and I could resume my normal training in just a few weeks. Hah, obviously he didn't know about the marathon. I think I will use this on a regular basis now as part of my stack to help prevent any broken bones in the future.

I've taken this supplement for many years and I think it has helped improve my bone density. One of the best ways I've found to combat my osteoporsis. I'm disabled and spend most of my time indoors, the added Vitamin D is a great bonus. I tried to give this product a 5 star rating but it would not accept the last star. My only regret is not knowing the benefits of calcium citrate when I was younger. Young women, please do not underestimate the vital role of vitamins and supplements or as you age your body will deteriorate much faster than necessary.

Combining D, Magnesuim and Calcuim Citrate (the most easily absorbed calcium) into one fine product makes this a great find for me. Two in AM and two in PM is all I need. They are in easy to swallow capsules.

I have tried many calcium supplements but this one has won me over. It has all the ingredients you should have in a calcium supplement and that best part is that it calms you. I feel so relaxed and able to handle things better. I take two in the morning to start the day and two at night. Great product.

Comments about Vitamin Shoppe Calcium Citrate + Magnesium & Vitamin D - 300 Capsules:

I've started taking Calcium Citrate plus Magnesium & D several months ago. Previously I would have 10-20 PVC's per day that I could feel. Sometimes multiple ones in a row. After researching and seeing that Calcium & Magnesium could help, I thought I would give it a try. Within a couple days the PVC's are pretty much gone. I may have 1 a day, most days with none. (That I can feel) If you have PVC's, talk to your doctor about this and see if he/she has an issue with taking this. It might be a good/better alternative to beta blockers or CCB's. The extra D just seems like a bonus since I'm not out in the sun that much. - There has been no real change in anything else I have done. No additional exercise or change in diet. In fact, now that I don't have to worry about PVC's I might cheat a bit more :-) !!!!

Anne C: With calcium, there is a drawback with the 'powder in a gelcap' version. You do not get as much in one pill as you do with the solid ones you get at the drugstore. But I always question how much of those your body absorbs. Do you get the entire 1200? Mar 7, 2014

Lyla D: That is correct. It would be a little more than 1200, but since they are capsules, you would have to take 8 to get to 1200. Mar 9, 2014

Susan L asked: I must avoid wheat, lactose and soy. The website states this product has "NO yeast, corn, wheat, sugar, salt, soy, starch, dairy, citrus, fish, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors added." But does that mean this product is really free of wheat, lactose and soy? Has anyone tried this who has celiac disease? Thank you. Apr 30, 2013

Glenn G: Good question, and unfortunately I cannot answer for this specific condition. I am a bariatric bypass patient who must take a calcium citrate supplement for life at a minimum of 1800 mgs a day. This has proven itself as easy to take, and I have passed my blood tests using this supplement as my source. If soy, wheat, or lactose were there in any material form, one would think it would show a rating for protein or sugar, since soy and wheat are a protein source, and lactose is a form of sugar. Katrina G: Hi Susan, although the Vitamin Shoppe products seem comparable to other branded ones, if you are trying to be conscious of some ingredients because of a condition, I suggest you look for brands that are called Whole Food / Natural. Another brand that my parents trust is Solgar. They are a bit pricey though, but our instincts tell us it is worth the extra amount. I also do some research on the brand / company's website as well. Susan L: Thank you for replying to my inquiry. If you don't mind I would like further clarification. Do you mean to say the product contains soy protein? Or do you mean to say the product is free of soy protein? Free of gluten? Or do you mean you need to avoid soy protein and you found this product is ok for you? Something else?

Susan R: If it's the same one I purchased (the link goes to a different one) it is 600 mg of calcium, 300 mg of magnesium. 400 iu of D (I think). You should always take at least 1/2 the magnesium to calcium. I bought the wrong one this time -- Calcium & Vitamin D but no magnesium. So I take extra magnesium with it -- 1200 mg of calcium and 800 of magnesium. Since I'm an older woman, that is what I need. Jul 14, 2014

Dan C: We've been using this for several years. About 250 mg per capsule. But, that isn't the whole question. The question is "how much calcium are you going to absorb. Citrate is an ideal bonding substance to go with the calcium. It raises the percentage of calcium absorption, much better than carbonate. Also, the capsule form is better absorbed than tablet. Jun 10, 2014
