What is Calcium Citrate Plus Magnesium & Vitamin D?

Calcium is an essential mineral that is important for bone and teeth health. Calcium plays a major role in muscle functions, healthy bone structure, blood clotting and nerve signaling. Vitamin D supports the proper functioning of the immune system, can provide support for bone health, and promote increased absorption of calcium. Magnesium is an essential mineral and cofactor required for hundreds of chemical reactions in the body. Magnesium helps support muscle and nerve function and contributes to calcium absorption.

Calcium Citrate will not bind to bones as calcium carbonate. The added magnesium and vitamin D helps to facilitate the benefits of calcium.

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Calcium Citrate Plus Magnesium & Vitamin D - 300 Capsules:

I had to give this 5 stars. The price was great, the value was great, the ease of use was great, and the effectiveness was great. I chipped/broke a bone in my foot 5 weeks ago. I had an x-ray two weeks ago which showed that the bone hadn't fused at all. I then went and bought this to aide in the healing of my bone not really expecting much. I ended up running my marathon last week (just 4 weeks after my broken bone). I saw my podiatrist just a few days ago and he told me the bone had completely fused and I could resume my normal training in just a few weeks. Hah, obviously he didn't know about the marathon. I think I will use this on a regular basis now as part of my stack to help prevent any broken bones in the future.

I've taken this supplement for many years and I think it has helped improve my bone density. One of the best ways I've found to combat my osteoporsis. I'm disabled and spend most of my time indoors, the added Vitamin D is a great bonus. I tried to give this product a 5 star rating but it would not accept the last star. My only regret is not knowing the benefits of calcium citrate when I was younger. Young women, please do not underestimate the vital role of vitamins and supplements or as you age your body will deteriorate much faster than necessary.

Combining D, Magnesuim and Calcuim Citrate (the most easily absorbed calcium) into one fine product makes this a great find for me. Two in AM and two in PM is all I need. They are in easy to swallow capsules.

I have tried many calcium supplements but this one has won me over. It has all the ingredients you should have in a calcium supplement and that best part is that it calms you. I feel so relaxed and able to handle things better. I take two in the morning to start the day and two at night. Great product.

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Calcium Citrate Plus Magnesium & Vitamin D - 300 Capsules:

I've started taking Calcium Citrate plus Magnesium & D several months ago. Previously I would have 10-20 PVC's per day that I could feel. Sometimes multiple ones in a row. After researching and seeing that Calcium & Magnesium could help, I thought I would give it a try. Within a couple days the PVC's are pretty much gone. I may have 1 a day, most days with none. (That I can feel) If you have PVC's, talk to your doctor about this and see if he/she has an issue with taking this. It might be a good/better alternative to beta blockers or CCB's. The extra D just seems like a bonus since I'm not out in the sun that much. - There has been no real change in anything else I have done. No additional exercise or change in diet. In fact, now that I don't have to worry about PVC's I might cheat a bit more :-) !!!!

It is a legitimate concern and I checked on the bottle and it does say the product was manufactured FOR Vitamin Shoppe but not necessarily where. Customer Service is your best bet to start. They have always been helpful to me.

Can you please tell me the milligrams of calcium citrate, magnesium, and vitamin D in this product?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on Apr 23, 2016
Best Answer: Each capsule contains: Calcium Citrate: 333mg; Vit. D: 204 IU; Magnesium: 189 mg
Serving size is 2 capsules, to be taken 3x a day with meals, so multiply the amounts by 6 for a daily dose. 6 a day will give you 100% daily value of calcuim. The others are over 100%. I only take 4 day, 2 with breakfast, 2 at night, since I get these minerals from other sources as well. Seems to work well for me.

If I read the label correctly, I would need to take 8 pills per day to get 1200 daily dose. Is this correct?

Best Answer: With calcium, there is a drawback with the 'powder in a gelcap' version. You do not get as much in one pill as you do with the solid ones you get at the drugstore. But I always question how much of those your body absorbs. Do you get the entire 1200?

I must avoid wheat, lactose and soy. The website states this product has "NO yeast, corn, wheat, sugar, salt, soy, starch, dairy, citrus, fish, preservatives, artificial colors or flavors added." But does that mean this product is really free of wheat, lactose and soy? Has anyone tried this who has celiac disease? Thank you.

Best Answer: Good question, and unfortunately I cannot answer for this specific condition. I am a bariatric bypass patient who must take a calcium citrate supplement for life at a minimum of 1800 mgs a day. This has proven itself as easy to take, and I have passed my blood tests using this supplement as my source. If soy, wheat, or lactose were there in any material form, one would think it would show a rating for protein or sugar, since soy and wheat are a protein source, and lactose is a form of sugar.

Best Answer: The amount of the serving / dosage is what is listed. Since it takes 2 capsules to make up this amount - see bottle ingredients listing - divide those numbers by 2 and you will have the amount of ingredients per capsule.

I have been taking Caltrate, which is calcium carbonate with Vitamin D. Have always had some issues with constipation, and am thinking I should switch to a calcium citrate such as this. Any feedback regarding this issue?

Does this product contain titanium dioxide? It seem that most brands of calcium citrate contain titanium dioxide for white coloring, but I worry about possible toxicity. Laurie L.

Is the calcium citrate made out of calcium carbonate? I read that some times it is made from calcium carbonate...and I am allergic to that.

Best Answer: If it's the same one I purchased (the link goes to a different one) it is 600 mg of calcium, 300 mg of magnesium. 400 iu of D (I think). You should always take at least 1/2 the magnesium to calcium. I bought the wrong one this time -- Calcium & Vitamin D but no magnesium. So I take extra magnesium with it -- 1200 mg of calcium and 800 of magnesium. Since I'm an older woman, that is what I need.
