Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Caprylic Acid - 100 Capsules:

I've been using this for about a month now and have noticed that my craving for sweets has disappeared. Additionally, the 'morning fog' in which my brain is sometimes wrapped has also cleared. It seems to balance flora and fauna in my gut. Since I haven't changed anything else I'm doing, I give credit to this supplement.

A staff member at Vitamin Shoppe recommended this product to me 15 years ago I have used it ever since and has recommended to friends and family. The best way (imo) to relieve discomfort from yeast infections and a great preventative for yeast infections.

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Caprylic Acid - 100 Capsules:

I have had recurrent monthly yeast infections for about 12 months. I have been taking this product for a month and a half. The first month I started taking it mid cycle and it made no difference. By the same time next month my symptoms were drastically reduced. Only very mild yeast infection symptoms. I did not have to take any drug store or prescription meds to clear up the minor itching. I just continued the caprylic acid and stepped up my probiotic and the symptoms cleared up! I just bought another bottle and hope that next month will be even better.

Having suffered from yeast infection because of antibiotics in my youth, I have been using this product as long as I can remember. This capsule is easier to digest than the pills. Having it delivered to the house is a bonus. Keeps my gut balanced.

I want to know if this product is time released or manufactured in a way that the pill makes it into the small intestine?

I usually take the smallest amount of any over the counter products, (one aspirin usually does the job), so how many capsules do you take a day, and do you use Caprylic daily or sporadically as needed? When mold spores are high or if I eat sweets I get lethargic; my nose, ears and head stop up.
              Margie M on Jan 12, 2013
Best Answer: It sounds like you have some yeast in your sinuses. If you have it there, you probably also have an over-growth of it in your gut. Depending on how long you've had it, it might take you a while to clear it out. I would start with one capsule per day for the first week and go up from there.

You will more than likely have some "die-off" symptoms, so listen to your body and go slow. If, when you increase your dosage, you feel worse than you can handle, drop back to the lower dose for a while longer before going up again..

I avoid sugar as much as possible while you're on caprylic acid and drink lots of water to help flush out the die-off toxins. What also helps me, when I'm killing yeast , is to take a warm bath with epsom salts before bedtime. It helps me to get rid of the toxins too. Adding vitamin C to my regiment helps me too (at least 1,000 mg/day).

I've only used caprylic acid for long periods of time so I'm not sure if taking it sporadically will help. I guess you could give it a try and see what happens, but, as I mentioned earlier, it sounds like you might have an overgrowth that might require more consistent use. Hope this helps...

Is this a for women product?
              David N on Sep 26, 2014
Best Answer: I am a woman and use it when I get symptoms of a low pH (rectal/vaginal itching leading to burning/paingul urination), but pH imbalance does not descriminate gender ;o) Men have a special need for pH regulation..all urine passesthru the prostrate gland.

Where probiotics are helpful to the health of beneficial bacteria, caprilic acid is one good way to stop prolifeATION OF OPPORTUNISTIC BACTERIA
