Comments about Cardiovascular Research Ferritin (Bioavailable Iron) 5 MG - 60 Capsules:

Due to iron deficiency being common in my family and my own levels being low, I researched the best option. This was it. I got no nausea from this, although I did notice that after a while it increased the solidity of my stools. That's poop, I'm not talking about my kitchen or foot stool. That'd be weird. It never went to constipation levels although it was annoying having normal poops whenever I was used to not so solid ones. Most people complain of constipation, black teeth from the chewable iron supplements, nausea, etc. I had none of this and I'm super easy to make nauseated. Totally recommend this for treating iron deficiency. It is, however, only 30% per pill. On the flipside, it's already the bound iron aka ferritin as it says, so go for it. I take 2-3 depending on symptoms.

Comments about Cardiovascular Research Ferritin (Bioavailable Iron) 5 MG - 60 Capsules:

Iron supplements that are not bound to either a protein (this one is) or polysaccharides will form free radicals once digested.

Is it best to take this before with or after food?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on Oct 20, 2014
Best Answer: It doesn't matter either way, but what is very important is that you take this with Vitamin C. Vitamin C has been proven to help absorb the Ferritin in the blood stream.

What are you (the people) using it for? Is taking one capsule enough or do you find much better results with two? Were you referred by someone due to the favorable results? How did you come about this product?
          Thank you.

Best Answer: I used this after I had hip replacement to get my iron levels back up before having the 2nd replacement surgery. I took 3/day (one with each meal) and within a few weeks my levels were back to normal. There are no side effects like with other iron (constipation, etc). Since it is more bioavailable than other types of iron, you don't need to take as high a dose. I don't eat a lot of meat, so one/day keeps me right where I want to be. My doctor told me that ferritin levels (iron is stored in your body as ferritin so that measures your reserves) are important to check if you're having thyroid issues because low ferritin slows the conversion of T4 to T3.

I have a low feritin level of 34, i have noticed hair shedding. i am not anemic. i was told in a health food store that i should just take feritin. My dermatologist told me to take iron. very confused what I do?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on May 9, 2014
Best Answer: I would go straight to your doctor and ask for a FULL THYROID PANEL to be done. Your symptoms sound like your thyroid is not working well.

Low Ferritin and hair loss is a sign of Hypothyroidism.
