Product Label

Best MSM Powder supplies OPTIMSM ® (methylsulfonylmethane), a naturally- occurring source of organic sulfur that is easily absorbed and used by the body. MSM occurs throughout nature as part of the global "sulfur cycle" Formed in the upper atmospher, MSM falls to earth in rain water and is then absorbed from the soil by plant life, MSM found in foods such as fresh-picked fruits and vegetables is largely lost during food processing storage and cooking. This makes it difficult to obtain substantial amounts of MSM from dietary sources.

Comments about Doctor's Bes Best Msm Powder 1000 Mg - 250 Grams Powder:

Vanity, I admit it not that I'm vain in anyway, but after turning 51 and seeing many of my peers looking older then I would like to see. I became concerned and did some research on MSM and other similar products and chose this one plus changed my diet, and went back to the gym. I mix it with lemonade, tea powder, plus BCAA, sometimes CALM supplement and so far I have been told that I look younger then my age. Bravo!

shauntol o asked: Hi. I am trying to find out more about the Doctor's best brand MSM. My main goal for the product is to increase hair growth but if taken internally I would also want to achieve other benefits. For anyone who has taken it for hair purposes does it help and did you see significant results. Also how did you take it? Internally, applying directly to scalp, etc. For anyone, were there any side affects to this MSM? I am just someone who is seeking advice on a product I would like to purchase but does not want to waste money. Thank you for listening and I look forward to any advice. Jan 28, 2013

Creed H: msm itself is sulphur and great for general health maintenance such as hair and nail strength - msm acts to deliver nutrients through membranes and is often used as a carrier for other compounds - msm will act through the skin - percutaneous - and can be applied directly to skin and scalp with water or oil as its carrier - the msm research by Karl Loren and his Vibrant Living group indicate that msm helps strengthen the immune system - msm is a common veterinary feed supplement - msm is available in bulk on line in flat packages and of course packaged as here with the Doctors Best canister - the Doctors Best packaging is convenient and the msm is fine quality - you can mix msm into juice or water and it has a strong flavor that you can get used to for the benefit of getting the msm into your system - you can also purchase msm in capsule form in 500 mg and 1000 mg capsules - anecdotal reports of substantial health benefit from taking several grams daily are common when you do on line research - google "msm" and select "shopping" from your results and this product is a good choice from the responses you receive - cost convenience and quality are all considerations - do good research and make good decisions - hope msm helps you! Arthur H: I have used this brand MSM for many years.. more for my knees and joints. When I switched to the powder I could tell that it was working even better. It is more cost friendly as well. The body seems to absorb better when disolved in water. The taste is not bad, a little bitter, but not bad. I do notice that my nails and hair and skin seem to be stronger and healthier. My daughter has eczema and it helps her skin as well. Jan 29, 2013

Krista H: Hi Shauntol,

I can't answer your question directly as I've only ever used MSM to support connective tissue health (if anything, my hair is too thick and grows super fast... sorry!), but I've heard promising things with regard to hair growth. You might also want to have your vitamin K levels checked (and should be supplementing with K2 anyway if you take vitamin D orally at all). Other deficiencies linked to hair loss are B vitamins, folic acid, and iron. Some blood work can give you an idea of where your levels are.

Excess vitamin A, dehydration, eating too little protein, and hormonal imbalances have been known to cause hair thinning or loss. One thing's for sure - I eat 1 g of protein (from fish, meat, or eggs) per lb of body weight daily, supplement with all of the vitamins I just mentioned, and drink at least 4L of water per day... and like I said... full head of thick, shiny, strong hair.

A close family friend went bald in his early 30s. He's now in his 60s and after seeing a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner for acupuncture/herbal remedies, and supplementing with B5, he's beginning to see significant regrowth.

MSM is typically without side effects, though some people (who have likely taken more than the recommended dosage) experience mild diarrhea or headaches. That's about it. Doctor's Best is a pretty clean supplement (no crazy fillers, etc.) and doesn't have an especially strong taste - I stir a 1/4 tsp into a glass of water or mix it with a protein shake. You could add it to a smoothie, a glass of juice, or tea if you try it and find it unpleasant.

Good luck!
