Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Horse Chestnut Extract - 100 Capsules:

Started taking this supplement (Vitamin Shoppe Brand) a few years ago to help with hemorrhoids as a recommendation by a VS employee. I had tried other hemorrhoid products that had Horse Chestnut in it with some relief. I must say that I have tried other brands and I will stick with the VS brand. I probably should take it on a daily basis but I take it when I have flare ups. I usually have relief usually within an hour from the swelling. I have shared it with a coworker and she now swears by it. She thanked me over and over that it was the only thing that gave her relief and quick! Great stuff!

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Horse Chestnut Extract - 100 Capsules:

I was diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency about 18 years ago. My lower legs and ankles were always swollen and discolored. After researching remedies for chronic venous insufficiency I bought the Horse Chestnut Extract 3 weeks ago .

During the first two weeks I took 4 pills a day Since then I take 2 pills a day.

During the second week of use I noticed that my legs were not as swollen and my skin was not as dry. Since then my legs have lost about 60 to 70% of the swelling. The legs are beginning to return to a more normal color.

The results to date have amazed me. I wish I would have done this years ago.

My plan is to take the Horse Chestnut Extract for 3 months.

I will then submit another report on my progress. I hope that the beneficial effects continue.

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Horse Chestnut Extract - 100 Capsules:

I have used horse chestnut alone as well as in combination with its partner, butcher's broom. While it's true that horse chestnut is nasty if you get a little dusting of it on the outside of the capsule, it also yields good results when used as directed.

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Horse Chestnut Extract - 100 Capsules:

I have been diagnosed with LymphEdema, which is a condition that swells areas of the body, in my case my lower right leg, and also creates hard reddish skin in the affected areas. Doctors say it is due in part to lack of circulation in that area caused by weak veins or varicose veins. Horse Chestnut Extract works on the veins by nourishing them and strengthening them.

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe Horse Chestnut Extract - 100 Capsules:

This product made me sick. I felt like throwing up within 30 minutes or so of taking it and the feeling didn't go away for another 30 minutes or so. The first time it happened, I wasn't sure what was making me sick. But the next day it happened again and worse. This is not typical for me but I think I might just be allergic to this extract.

was the product helpful in treating chronic vein insufficiency?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on Jun 30, 2014
Best Answer: I have vericose veins and this seems to help. I was trying to cut back on my vitamins, and this was one of them on the list. About 1 week from taking it the discomfort came back, actually the pain. I started taking it once again, the discomfort faded quickly. Check with your Dr. Before taking this. Another thing that has helped also is blueberries. I take my blueberries in a tablet form because I do not care for blueberries, and this also helps. I have very little discomfort while taking these 2. I hope this helps, good luck.
