Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe L-Tyrosine 500 MG - 100 Capsules:

this was recommended to support thyroid naturally, but this product caused immediate feelings of intense fatigue, I had to drive to a meeting and was seriously concerned about my alertness. I compensated with coffee. My mother didn't notice at first when she started taking the supplement, but after a few days, she began to struggle to stay awake at work, very uncharacteristic for her. May not happen to everyone, but in case it does, know your not the only one.

I bought this product and used it as directed. A couple of days after purchasing it, it took effect on the 2nd night for me. It kept me awake and alert without feeling jittery. For those that work rotating 12 hr night shifts, this may be the product for you. Just make sure to check with your health care provider first. Thanks Vitamin Shoppe..

Comments about the Vitamin Shoppe L-Tyrosine 500 MG - 100 Capsules:

Tried this for depression, anxiety, sleep issues and all the reviews were positive for treatment of these issues. Also a recommended supplement by Dr. Hyman in his "Ultramind Solution". But after just 2 days (a total of 3 500 mg capsules) I crashed. Terrible headache, so fatigued I felt like I was going to fall to my knees every time I stood up and body aches like I had the worst flu. I also starting taking 5-Hydroxytryptophan - total of 4 capsules (for the same issues under the same recommendations) at the same time. Stopped taking both and researched a little more on webmd and found stern warnings. STAY AWAY FROM THESE

your symptoms could have been due to the 5-HTP also. you must be very careful with L-Tyrosine or DL or L-Phenylalnine in the case of anxiety and insomnia although at times with some people they can help. if you have anxiety GABA inhibitory agents!

              >> A Vitamin Shoppe Customer commented on this review on 2012-03-29
L-Taurine is a noradrenergic and cathecolamine inhibitory neurotransmitter amino acid like GABA; these type of agents including L-Theanine are more indicated for anxiety syndromes. some people can take 100mg/kg of L-Tyrosine with no problem.

After suffering from a bried stint of depression and starting to feel that way again a friend of mine suggested looking into taking Tyrosine. Now just so you know, I am always a bit of a skeptic with taking products.

your exactly right, you might like trying N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine always along with a bit of B6 best in P-5-P form (amino acids need B6 in general to metabolize and some benifit from niacinamide, inositol, mag., vitaminC ect.), 650mg=1000mg

I took my first pill on an empty stomach. I experienced mental clarity, energy and creative thoughts. I think L-Tyrosine is supposed to increase the dopamine levels in your brain and it seems to be doing that as well. Very good product. I highly recommend it!

I have taken this Vitamin Shoppe L-Tyrosine for the past year and a half. It helps me "get up and go" in the morning and helps keep me on task all day. I notice if I forget to take it because my productivity lags.

Is it safe to take the 5oomg L-Tyrosine at one time? Or should I take a smaller dose? I am looking for something to help balance my moods, naturally. This ia supposed to do it, but 500mg is alot.

Best Answer: I've been taking this amino acid with a few others for years with positive results. I take these aminos to help control my anxiety and to help improve my memory and concentration. I take 500mg of each amino and a bufferd vitamin C first thing every morning on an empty stomach with no apparent side effects. Hope this is helpful.
