Excellent for depression & anxiety!

Comments about Vitamin Shoppe No-Flush Niacin (500 MG) - 100 Capsules:

The absolute best weapon against depression and anxiety that I have found! Just as effective as regular Niacin (for depression anyways) but without the flush. A high dosage is the key; I take about 3000mg a day. I've never experienced any side effects. It's a great alternative to the garbage that doctors prescribe to treat depression and is more effective than any other natural remedy that I've found.

A Vitamin Shoppe customer asked: what does hexaniacinate mean ? also what does no - flush mean? Jul 31, 2013
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Virginia S: Hexaniacinate is the form of niacin used in the capsule to allow for the slow release of niacin to avoid the flush that normally comes from niacin preparations. "No-flush" means none of the burning, itching sensation that results from niacin release in your system.

I'm a woman of a certain age and occasionally experience hot flashes. For my gentlemen friends who don't get what a hot flash feels like, I like to suggest to them to take Niacin as is. Think sunburn and poison ivy rash and chicken pox all at once! Even the "extended release" varieties can result in "the flush." Only the flush-free or No-Flush labels can be trusted due to the inositol hexaniacinate used.

Tom A: Don't know the hexaniacanite answer, but re the no flush, when you take large amounts of niacin, maybe 100 to 500 mg, you can experience a "flush." That is to say a Ringling feeling in some parts of you'd body. I had it in my ears and scalp. It goes away after a few minutes and k don't know that there are any "side effects," but some people find it uncomfortable. No flush is usually a time release so that you don't feel the flush. It has been pretty good in keeping my colesterol under control. I have heard the "flush" is because of the expansion of blood vessels. Anyway, I am not a medical professional, but that is what I know about niacin. Jul 31, 2013

          David K: Hello,

I'm not sure what hexaniacite is, but it's a form of niacin. No flush is easier. When many people take niacin in substantial doses, they flush. This means that shortly after ingesting it their skin turns red (a reddish glow, which may last for about 20-30 minutes). When this has happened to me, I also had major itching. No-Flush Niacin is designed to reduce or stop this reaction.
