Lisa M: The way it works for me is I take 2 caps 15 minutes before bedtime, then read for 15 min, I feel sleepy and it helps me achieve REM sleep! If I get up after 4 hours of sleep and need to use the restroom and turn a light on the effects are done. So I have taken 1 more to help get back to sleep, but I heard that light will effect it in that way, so if I need to get up I do not turn any lights or will hold my hand up over my eyes if the neighbors yard light is on and shining thru the windows. It does not act like a sleeping pill so once the light is on it is done. I have on occasion had a slight headache from using, but it is not bad enough to take anything and it doesn't last long (15 min? once your up) I get migraines and this is nothing like that, just drink a glass of water and it helps! Don't understand how? Feb 20, 2013

    Kimberly S: Dear Lauren,

I take Melatonin 3mg every night for over 10 years and there is no hang over effect in the morning, nor do you feel drowsy in the morning. In fact, because of Melatonin 3mg along with sleeptime tea, I get a full 7-8 hours of sleep and feel fully energized in the morning and highly recommend it! My dad is a doctor so he lives on it too! its the natural way to fall asleep. I highly recommend Melatonin 3mg every night with a cup of sleepytime tea. You will have a deep sleep, therefore you will feel better than ever in the morning!

Jennifer G: Since your body produces melatonin naturally you will never be drowsy in the morning after taking it. As soon as light hits your eyes your body stops the production of melatonin. So it just gets rid of whatever you don't use. I highly recommend melatonin. Especially since it is a natural substance. Feb 20, 2013

Dorene F: Hi there. I can take 2 at bedtime and wake up again in about 3 hours I'm about 135 lbs and my husband is 260 lbs and 1 will knock him out and get up drowsy. This is something you should try on a night where you don't need to be focused early the next day. Good luck!! Feb 20, 2013

Marjorie M: I don't know exactly how long Melatonin lasts in your system but I have taken it and got fewer than 8 hours of sleep and I was fine. I didn't feel drowsy. I understand everybody is different but I think she will be fine after taking it. Feb 20, 2013

Lisia C: i actually started taking melatonin in the hopes that i'd feel more refreshed in the morning, and it's really been working for me. it seems to give me a deeper sleep. without it, i wake up super groggy and just not rested, even though i don't have a hard time falling asleep. i highly recommend giving melatonin a try. Michael Y: No problem with any side effects as far as I am concerned. Definitely no grogginess, nausea, headache, or bad taste in the mouth. It works well for my wife also and she is allergic to quite a few meds used for sleep. Nov 8, 2012

Jerry J: I agree with the above. I do not feel groggy. Just be sure you don't take it too late. Try to take it 30 mins before you go to bed and make sure you give yourself at least 6-7 hrs for sleep. I average 7. Feb 20, 2013

Jim G: It just helps me feel drowsy when I'm trying to get to sleep at night. I notice no lingering effects in the morning. Nov 8, 2012

Betty J P: As with any sleep aid, you want to allow yourself ample time for sleep. I give it to my son who sometimes has trouble falling asleep since returning from overseas. He hops out of bed, rested and ready to face the day. If he were struggling from grogginess, I believe he would have told me.

I suggest you begin its use sometime when you do not HAVE to get up. We have found that Melatonin does not MAKE you sleep as sleeping pills do, rather it LETS you get to sleep naturally.
