Its in-your-face <a href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/articles\/household-chemicals-chart-whats-in-my-house\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fumes<\/a> can irritate your eyes and lungs, and leave burns or rashes on your skin. Ammonia is also infamous for causing respiratory problems, like asthma, says Geller.<\/p>\n<p>A simple cleaning spray for wiping down the kitchen table is so easy to make yourself. Grab an empty spray bottle and try this combo:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00bd cup water<\/li>\n<li>\u00bd cup <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/apple-cider-vinegar\/N-cp99ku\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apple cider vinegar<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2 Tbsp <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/cleaning\/N-cp99o8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">liquid castile soap<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2-3 drops <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/essential-oils\/N-cp99nf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">essential oil<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Apple cider vinegar contains acetic acid, which can be used for general household cleaning, to remove hard water deposits, sink rust, and tarnish on brass and copper, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/aces.nmsu.edu\/pubs\/_g\/G304\/welcome.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NMSU<\/a>. Castile soap, which is typically made using natural oils, like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/coconut-oil\/N-cp99kv\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">coconut oil<\/a>, is mild on skin and surfaces, says Geller. She recommends <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/b\/dr-bronner\/N-92m\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dr. Bronner\u2019s castile soap<\/a>, which boasts an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ewg.org\/guides\/cleaners\/2482-DrBronnersPureCastileSoapPeppermint\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u2018A\u2019 rating<\/a> from the EWG.<\/p>\n<p>From there, choose your favorite essential oils to create a scent you like. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/essential-oils-f-n\/N-cp99nh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lavendar<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/essential-oils-f-n\/N-cp99nh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">lemon<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/essential-oils-a-e\/N-cp99ng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eucalyptus<\/a> oils are all popular picks! The EWG recommends vinegar and baking soda, says Geller. <a href=\"http:\/\/aces.nmsu.edu\/pubs\/_g\/G304\/welcome.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Acetic acid<\/a> is popular in all sorts of homemade cleaning products, and is a gentler natural swap for stronger acids.
