The goal of that training session is to get the biggest bang for your buck in terms of time and effort. Basically, \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/2017\/07\/18\/confusing-fitness-terms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">metabolic conditioning<\/a>\u2019 describes a workout in which you\u2019re training and improving your body\u2019s ability to produce and use energy.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also experience a longer \u2018after burn,\u2019 meaning you burn more calories throughout the day than you might after other workouts. Over time, these workouts will help you kick butt at higher intensities and burn more fat for fuel. (Plus, they stimulate your production of testosterone and growth hormone, which help you continue to build muscle while burning fat.) All good things for your physique!<\/p>\n<p>If you want to swap in a different exercise for the met-con workout in your training plan, this one will make your body tears of metabolic joy.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The &#8216;Bells and Burpees 300-rep countdown&#8217; Workout<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div style=\"width: 740px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-13359-1\" width=\"740\" height=\"416\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Bells_Burpees.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Bells_Burpees.mp4\">https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Bells_Burpees.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p>In this workout, you\u2019ll alternate between<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/2017\/04\/12\/kettlebell-moves\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> kettlebell <\/a>swings and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/2017\/04\/06\/burpees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">burpees <\/a>for a total of 30 minutes. Set a timer and watch the clock to get started. At the top of the first minute, you\u2019ll perform 10 kettlebell swings. (Use a load that challenges you but doesn\u2019t mess with your form.) After you finish your 10 swings, rest for the remainder of the minute.<\/p>\n<p>At the top of the second minute, perform 10 burpees as quickly as possible, then rest for the remainder of the minute.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll repeat this pattern\u2014alternating between the 10 kettlebell swings and 10 burpees at the top of every minute\u2014and you\u2019ll rest during whatever leftover time you have, until you hit 30 minutes total. If you survive, you\u2019ll have completed 150 swings and 150 burpees, for a total of 300 reps!
