This crew calls themselves \u2018biohackers,\u2019 and they\u2019re taking DIY biology to a new level.<\/p>\n<p>One of the thought-leaders behind the biohacking revolution is Dave Asprey, founder and CEO of <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.bulletproof.com\/bulletproof-for-beginners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bulletproof<\/a>, the ultimate resource for all things biohacking. He defines the term as \u201cchanging your environment from the inside-out, so you have full control of your biology.\u201d Simply put: \u201cthe art and science of becoming superhuman.\u201d Asprey and his fellow biohackers believe that by experimenting with your daily routine, your sleep habits, your diet, what supplements you take, and your stress levels, you can take control of your mind, body, and life.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps you\u2019ve heard about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/lifeandstyle\/2017\/sep\/04\/silicon-valley-ceo-fasting-trend-diet-is-it-safe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Silicon Valley execs fasting for days<\/a> and fitness junkies sitting inside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/health\/sfpeak\/slide\/5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">infrared saunas<\/a> to ease sore muscles? Both examples of \u2018biohacking.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>That probably sounds intimidating and extreme (uh, it is!)\u2014but biohacking doesn\u2019t have to be complicated or hardcore. In fact, at its root, the term is just a fancy way of saying you\u2019re going to make proactive lifestyle changes to boost your health, says Natalie Rizzo, M.S., R.D.<\/p>\n<p>Some of biohackers\u2019 main goals are to perform better (body and mind), shed body fat, feel more energized, and ward off lifestyle diseases so many Americans face. \u201cWhen you\u2019re younger, you want to run faster, jump higher, lift more weight, and think smarter,\u201d says Jim Goetz, C.S.C.S., co-founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/biohackhumans.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">BioHackers<\/a> and author of <em>Biohacking the Brain for Success.<\/em> Then, as you get older, you want to turn the hands of time so you can continue to function at your best.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t need fancy equipment, an endless budget, or the grit to fast for hours and hours in order to hack your biology. All you need is the willingness to switch things up and get out of your comfort zone\u2014and you can get started right now.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Biohack Your Diet: Ditch The Bad<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you eat foods that don\u2019t jive with your body, you can\u2019t function at your peak.
