But if you\u2019ve been dealing with a near-constant case of \u2018meh\u2019 motivation lately, well, that\u2019s a different story.<\/p>\n<p>Often, a little movement is exactly what we need to feel our very best\u2014and luckily, there are plenty of little things you can do every day to boost your motivation and kick your butt back into gear. Here are health and fitness experts\u2019 go-to strategies for getting up and going.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>1. Upgrade Your Mornings<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>First off, stop hitting the snooze button so much! Getting enough sleep is super-important if you want to power through a workout <em>and<\/em> the rest of the day, but more isn\u2019t always better\u2014especially if it cuts into workout time. The sweet spot, according to the National Sleep Foundation, is seven to nine hours of shut-eye each night.\u00a0To prevent yourself from hitting snooze, yoga instructor and personal trainer Stephanie George recommends keeping your phone on the other side of the bedroom, so that you have to actually get out of bed to turn it off.<\/p>\n<p>Sticking to a consistent routine that involves waking up around the same time every morning\u2014even on the weekends\u2014can also help you have healthier days.\u00a0\u201cEventually that routine will turn into a habit and, who knows, you make even be able to wake up without an alarm,\u201d says George.<\/p>\n<p>George also recommends making time for a healthy breakfast. \u201cCoffee won\u2019t cut it,\u201d she says. \u201cYou need a well-balanced meal that provides you with the energy you need to get moving.\u201d Try eggs with spinach, peppers, and onions scrambled in, or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/protein-drinks\/N-cp99lp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">protein shake<\/a> with frozen berries and greens.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2. Drink More Water<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Could a few extra sips of H2O be the difference between staying on the couch and lacing up your sneakers? According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/pcd\/issues\/2013\/12_0248.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDC<\/a>, as much as 43 percent of American adults drink fewer than four glasses of water a day\u2014less than half the recommended eight glasses. Maybe you\u2019ll run four times a week or make it to yoga class every other evening. Write that down, too.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>5. Find A Cause Worth Sweating For<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When you need a kick in the pants that\u2019s bigger than just you, find a fitness-focused charitable organization\u2014like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.teamintraining.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Team in Training<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cycleforsurvival.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cycle for Survival<\/a>, or <a href=\"https:\/\/thed10.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>The D10<\/u><\/a>\u2014in your area to inspire you to get moving. \u201cNot only do they make fitness fun, but they present the opportunity for fundraising and the chance to hear amazing stories that will motivate you to celebrate your body each and every day,\u201d says Ryan. Call Your Workout Buddy<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedaily.com\/releases\/2016\/10\/161004081548.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Research<\/a> from the University of Aberdeen shows that having an exercise companion increases how much exercise we do on a consistent basis.
