Some trend enthusiasts suggest doing so compounds their effects, boosting fat-burn.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s5\">\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/29091513\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s6\">Evidence<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s7\"> from animal studies shows that consuming acetic acid<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u2014one of ACV\u2019s main components\u2014<\/span><span class=\"s7\">as part of a high-fat diet may reduce food intake,\u201d explains Axe. This then contributes to reduced fat deposition and body weight, and improved insulin resistance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">However, just because animal research has identified a notable effect, doesn\u2019t mean the same occurs in humans, Axe says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThere\u2019s been zero research done on humans that suggests that drinking apple cider vinegar while on keto leads to more weight loss,\u201d says Warren. \u201cIf there <i>is <\/i>any benefit, it\u2019s likely very small.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cIt\u2019s certainly not going to <\/span><span class=\"s7\">lead to <i>significantly<\/i> more weight loss or fat-burn,\u201d agrees Axe. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">All that said, there are a few other good reasons to include ACV in your diet. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Most notably: improved gut health. \u201cBecause ACV is a fermented product, it contains <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5620630\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">probiotics<\/span><\/a>,” explains Warren. \u201cSo taking it will support a healthy gut microbiome.\u201d (Just make sure to purchase an ACV that contains \u201cthe mother.\u201d) <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">ACV also contains pectin, a prebiotic fiber thought to support probiotics in their gut-balancing efforts, she adds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Related: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/day-off-keto\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Can You Take A Day Off Keto?<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Since folks often experience <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/keto-digestion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s2\">digestion issues<\/span><\/a> when they first start keto (typically the result of reduced fiber and increased fat intake), supplementing with ACV could be beneficial\u2014especially at the outset of a high-fat diet, according to Axe. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Consuming ACV regularly may also help support healthy blood sugar. This, in turn, supports metabolic health and disease prevention\u2014two big reasons people go keto, Axe adds.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>How To Take ACV On Keto <\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Want to incorporate ACV into your keto diet? Axe recommends drinking it once a day or cooking with it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s5\">To sip your ACV, combine it with <\/span><span class=\"s7\">lemon juice, hot water<\/span><span class=\"s5\">,<\/span><span class=\"s7\"> some ginger, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper to make an invigorating elixir. <\/span><span class=\"s5\">\u201c<\/span><span class=\"s7\">Start with a half a dose [one to two tablespoons] or less of apple cider vinegar to see how you react, and slowly increase the amount,\u201d advises Axe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">In the kitchen, Axe recommends using ACV to <\/span><span class=\"s7\">saut\u00e9 up keto-friendly veggies, such as cabbage, Brussels sprouts, or onions.
