And while effective, these drugs can come with side effects. That’s why I try to avoid OTCs as much as possible. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you\u2019re looking for an alternative, there are all sorts of ways to soothe your body naturally. In fact, people across the globe have used essential oils, herbs, and other remedies for hundreds of years. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Research still has some catching up to do to fully explore many of these natural approaches. However, some evidence suggests they truly can help\u2014and many people (myself, included) find them quite useful. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Not sure where to start? I incorporate the following four natural remedies into my own routine.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><\/b><span class=\"s1\"><b>1. Essential Oils<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition to smelling wonderful, many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/essential-oils\/N-cp99xh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">essential oils<\/a> have beneficial effects on the body. Some people turn to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/essential-oils\/N-cp99xh\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">lavender oil<\/a>, for example, to relax (both body and mind), sleep well, and ease everyday aches and pains. It’s long been used to relax sore muscles, ease headaches, and even support memory. <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Peppermint oil is equally beneficial\u2014especially when massaged onto your temples or other parts of the body that need soothing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">What’s behind these oils\u2019 powerful benefits? They all possess antioxidant qualities that can support immune function and overall health. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Two important things to remember when using essential oils: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">never ingest them<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s1\">always dilute them in a carrier oil\u2014such as almond oil, avocado oil, or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/blog\/coconut-oil-health-beauty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">coconut oil<\/a>\u2014when applying them to your body<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I particularly love using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/p\/pain-crush-3-fl-oz-roll-on\/gnx1014\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Genexa\u2019s Pain Crush<\/a>, a homeopathic roll-on that contains peppermint oil, along with other natural soothers, like organic aloe vera leaf juice and organic licorice root extract.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>2. In fact, acupuncture may help reduce the severity of tension headaches\u2014and even prevent migraines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One larger 2018 study published in <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/painmedicine\/article\/19\/9\/1862\/4856005\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span class=\"s3\"><i>Pain Medicine<\/i><\/span><\/a><i> <\/i>even identified acupuncture as an effective way to manage chronic pain and other symptoms involved in fibromyalgia.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Wondering exactly how this ancient method works? Acupuncture is believed to release endorphins (the body\u2019s natural pain-killers) and boost serotonin (the neurotransmitter that improves mood).<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>3. Yoga<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As you probably already know, yoga is a mind-body practice. It combines breathing, meditation, and movement to both relax and strengthen you, inside and out. It also happens to be one of my favorite ways to soothe my body naturally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">When practiced correctly, yoga can help relieve chronic pain related to arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines, low-back issues, and so much more. Turmeric<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/turmeric\/N-cp99m2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">turmeric root<\/a>, which has long been used in natural medicine, is another great way to soothe your body naturally.
