Taking glucomannan has <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/link.springer.com\/article\/10.1007\/s44187-025-00533-0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">been shown<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to delay gastric emptying, increase feelings of fullness, and decrease calorie intake. Long-term safety is also unknown, since studies typically last <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S1756464624001105\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">12 to 16 weeks.<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are some possible side effects to consider, too. Since it can lower blood sugar, pregnant women and people on blood glucose-lowering medications should avoid it or consult their healthcare provider before trying it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As for dosage, 200 to 400 milligrams of a standardized extract daily is common, according to Whittington. Just don\u2019t expect it to singlehandedly shift your relationship with sugar. \u201cWhile gymnema sylvestre can offer some help in curbing sugar cravings, lifestyle factors\u2014such as eating balanced meals with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vitaminshoppe.com\/c\/protein-fitness\/protein-powders\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">protein<\/a> and fiber\u2014are most effective in reducing cravings,\u201d she says.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Final Advice<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While all of these supplements can certainly help take the edge off any hankerings that have you running for the kitchen, don\u2019t expect them to be magic bullets that stop cravings in their tracks.
