Why did you choose this?

It works!

Good

Good

Because it literally works for relief of my condition.

Thank you guys so much for clarifying that!
I have one more question: the VitaminShoppe brand says that it contains 10mg of “Undenatured Type II Collagen (from chicken sternum cartilage)”, but most other brands claim they contain 40mg of UC-II, which looks like 4x as much! However, I also noticed that SOME of those ‘40mg’ brands say it’s “40mg of Undenatured Chicken Cartilage, containing 25% UC-II” so in essence those particular brands only contain 10mg of the active ingredient UC-II (as 25% of 40mg = 10mg). But other brands simply say they contain 40mg of UC-II, without further explanation...
What is the deal with this discrepancy in labeling, and how much of the active ingredient UC-II IS actually in these brands ? Do some really contain 4 times as much UC-II, or are they all the same and the way they seem to use the terms "Undenatured Type II Collagen", "Chicken Sternum Cartilage" and "UC-II" is misleading the consumer ?

Best Answer:  The products are equal in strength. I don't think the labeling is intended to be misleading. You see this on herbal extracts as well. Remember to take your UCII on an empty stomach with plenty of water. I do it in the middle of the night when I am up to the bathroom. Stomach acid will destroy it. So empty stomach, lots of water! Works great for over all aches and pains.

Can you take both this form, type 2, as well as collagen peptides, which are type 1 and 3?

Best Answer:  Don’t know.

I currently take Naproxen 500mg tablets for OA.

1 tablet twice a day. Is it safe to take UC-11 or will it cause a problem?

Best Answer:  show ingredients to your Dr and get Dr opinion - it's just chicken cartilage and w/in 3 months of consistently taking UC-II, you might be able to reduce or eliminate the Naproxen

Are these capsules supposed to be dark YELLOW ?

Best Answer:  yes, dark YELLOW
and this Vitamin Shoppe formula worked far better than Vitacost's version

Can it be taken with food? Why on empty stomach?

Best Answer:  Hello, I wish I knew the answer to that question. Even though I have taken this vitamin for years, I have always taken it as directed, on an empty stomach.

This was recommended to me for my cat. Can it be given to cats?

Best Answer:  My cat had spinal arthritis and was on gabapentin. I wanted to start him on this. The vet did not want to ( probably because she was selling the gabapentin) but she finally consented. After 2 months on the 1 capsule per day, I took him off the gabapentin and he was fine

Any pork derivatives in the ingredi??

Best Answer:  I cannot determine the answer to your question from the product's label.

However, one of the questions on the Vitamin Shoppe's website, relative to the product, is as follows:
"May I know the source of the collagen?
Laavanya DDec 29, 2023
Best Answer: Collagen in this supplement is sourced from chicken.
Daniel W. staff - Jan 2, 2024 - Reply: Inaccurate"

Further, a reply to my Google inquiry about whether there are pork derivatives in the product states "The UC-II collagen from The Vitamin Shoppe does not contain pork ingredients. It is derived from chicken sternum cartilage, which is a plant-based source of collagen".

My guess is that the Google response is based on the Staff response on the Vitamin Shoppe website. Therefore, it is unclear whether or not there are pork derivatives in the ingredients.

Is this UC II capsule hydrolized collagen II?

Best Answer:  The label doesn’t say it, so I’ll say no.

May I know the source of the collagen ?

Best Answer:  Collagen in this supplement is sourced from chicken.
