To be used as part of your cholesterol management program. Red Yeast is known to promote HMG-CoA reductase inhibition action which may help to promote healthy cholesterol levels.

Directions

Take 2 capsules twice a day with food. Store at 15-30C (59-86F). Protect from heat, light and moisture.

Product is good
I bought this in hopes to lower my cholesterol before my next blood test. I am happy to say it works. I went from 258 to 198 in 2 months! Sometimes I had to only take 1 twice a day because it did make me have a rash as side effect. I only modified diet a little too. Would recommend this product.

Best product to reduce lipids.
Cholestene, is one of the best products on the market. I believe that it is one of the first Red Yeast Rice products to come to the USA from Europe. I have used Cholestene for over fourteen years! I used to have very high cholesterol, but since starting on Cholestene, all lipids are in range. I have never taken a drug for my cholesterol, and always make sure to take my Co Q 10 every day. I have recommended this product to many of my friends and each and everyone of them, have had excellent results.

ConsumerLab.com does independent tests of supplements. All said and done, their assessment of HPF Cholestene was VERY favorable, dramatically above other red yeast rice tested; also the most affordable. It's what I will be taking from now on.

Lowered Cholesterol
Doctor recommended red yeast rice (along with Psyllium fiber) as an alternative to prescription meds when my LDL numbers were high. Did online research to come up with this brand as effective -- also gel caps easy to take. In 3 months reduced LDL from 155 to 75.

effective cholesterol management
I have used cholestene for the last 15 years. I have slightly elevated cholesterol that seems to be hereditary as I follow a proper diet, get plenty of exercise and am not overweight. I did not want to take any of the statins so I tried the red yeast rice. I tried several brands, but for me Cholestene is the most effective. I take 2 capsules in the a.m. and p.m. every day. This seems to work like a very low dose statin. My overall cholesterol used to run between 215-260; with the red yeast rice, it stays below 200, usually from 170-195. The plus is that Cholestene is much cheaper to take than any statin drug and it's a natural remedy. Be sure to always take CoQ10 with red yeast rice. For some people red yeast rice can give the same side effects as a statin--ex. muscle pain--but I haven't experienced any of that.

My doctor told me to take one tablet of Chinese red rice yeast 600 mg at bedtime for 4 weeks. Originally I had bought Vitamin Shoppe brand at 1200 mg (which he had originally told me to get) but the pills were too big and I have a problem swallowing. Do you have either a 600 mg tablet of either Cholestene or your Vitamin Shoppe brand? I'm wondering if he made a mistake on the dosage and meant 1200 mg daily. Everyone seems to be on a regimen of 4 1200 mg daily. Thanks for your reply and I will wait to purchase until I hear. Much appreciate your time.

Best Answer:  I I have taken this product since it was introduced in I think the 1990s. I take 2400 mg per day because my cholesterol is naturally 300. It reduced My cholesterol to190 and my LDL from 1:80 to 120 with no side effects.

I had an angiogram of my heart a year ago. My heart arteries were almost clear.

Cholestine blocks cholesterol produced in the liver. You can also take plant sterols that work differently absorbing cholesterol from the food you eat to lower it further.
