Directions

Take one (1) capsule up to twice daily, preferably with meals.

I would purchase this product again.
I have a situational depression due to a loss in my life. After taking this product I felt like myself again happy, optimistic, my hope came back, and most important I feel healthy again. I'm combining exercise a healthy diet with the pills the only bad part is not so easy on the stomach but I am planning to stop in a month.

Great supplement
Have been taking 5htp for three years and it helps wirh my mood. Was taking
Pentax before then heard about 5htp. Was happy with the results. I take one
A half hour before I eat my evening meal. This review is written by me and I
will recieve points for writing it.

This is exactly what I needed
Let me give a backround for anyone who thinks they should try this. I'm 23 and have a great life, I for some reason couldn't ditch having a depressed, negative attitude that was ruining a lot of personal relationships. I consider myself very healthy and conscious, so I knew I was fighting my own mind on something. I started taking these tablets at the suggestion of my wonderful girlfriend and it has completely erased all the negativity from my mind. After taking 2 50mg tablets daily I have a great new outlook on life and really love what ut has helped me accomplish. If you feel negative or depressed, TAKE THIS!!

Good for Fibromyalgia
Although anyone with fibromyalgia knows that what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another, 5-HTP is one of the supplements that has been shown to be most often effective as part of a fibromyalgia treatment plan. For me I have found that 5-HTP has allowed me to drop my Lyrica dose by 25 mg a day and I always use this brand and dose of it. I've found this this one to be consistent and effective, and when I find it to be economical as well, especially when I can get it on the semi-annual buy one get one 50% off sales. I started 5-HTP based on the advise of a rheumatologist before I even had a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and I noticed an immediate lessening of my pain.

5-HTP 50 mg
I began taking 5-HTP because it is said to stop cravings for sweets, etc. It definitely does that. I am a chocoholic and now, I don't even think about it. While I don't find that it improves my sleep (I have never had sleep issues), I do find that it helps my mood and total outlook. I am pre-menopausal and moody so anything that can help me be more normal is a plus! Product is good.. it does what it says it will do.

Useful sleep aid
I find the 5-HTP very useful as a sleep aid. I use both the 50 mg. size and the 100 mg. size, depending on how much difficulty I'm having with sleep. I also use Melatonin to help me fall asleep, but it's effects don't last all night. The 5-HTP helps me to stay asleep longer.

Best Answer:  It doesn't list time release on the label of the product, but I notice when I take it, it takes effect about a 1/2 hour after taking it and lasts for several hours. Hope this helps.

Relatively speaking, the 5-HTP are medium size capsules that are not terribly difficult to swallow(I have swallowing issues and I am able to get these down easily with applesauce.
