this was recommended by my sister's neurooncologist as chemo makes her so tired. I took it too, then stopped. I could really tell the difference when I stopped so I ordered more!

    Is this product USP certified?

    Best Answer: Hi Beth T

USP or United States Pharmacopeia is a standard set for dealing with chemicals used in the drug and chemical manufacturing industry. USP like ACS (American Chemical Society) makes sure that the chemicals used in a product/laboratory etc is to a particular level. So when it says USP or ACS standard of 99.99999 percent purity, you have USP or ACS guarantee that they have tested the product and it has a verified purity of 99.999 percent.

In answering your question I think what you may be asking me is about STANDARDIZATION and not USP, which is used when dealing with herbal products like Ginseng. Ginseng is not a pharmaceuticlly created product, but a naturally grown herb. And as such everything from soil conditions to sunlight exposure, to watering, to oxygen/carbon dioxide exposure can effect the output/creation of the active ingredients manufactured within the herb. Companies have corrected this deviation of the active ingredients by STANDARDIZING or making sure the amount of active compounds within the herb is consistently the same and to a exacting level. You will see a label saying the active ingredient of PRODUCT X is Standardized to 5, 10, 20, 25 etc percent. This guarantees you will be getting exactly what the herbs you are buying are supposed to contain in order to benefit your health in one way or another.

So far as Vitamin Shoppe's STANDARDIZATION of Ginseng in its product, it doesn't say it is standardized, but the quality of their products is usually HIGH, so I didn't worry about getting a inferior product when purchasing it.

I really hope I answered your question satisfactory

I have been using this for a while. Unlike all my previous purchases, the last one bought in July does not carry any American ginseng smell when I opened the bottle. I even opened up a capsule but the powder was odorless. Has anyone else noticed any such change and known why? Thanks.
