        • Source Naturals Magnesium Malate is a compound of magnesium and malic acid. Malic acid is a natural fruit acid that is present in most cells in the body and is an important component of numerous enzymes key to ATP synthesis and energy production. Magnesium is an essential mineral in over 300 enzymatic reactions in metabolism. Preliminary studies suggest that meagnesium malate supports the body's own detoxification of aluminum on the brain.**

Comments about Source Naturals Magnesium Malate 1250 MG - 180 Tablets:

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Among many supplements suggested was Magnesium with Malic Acid.
It helps with muscle pain, keeps my heart beating regularly(it had been pausing) keeps me regular :) I'm sensitive to meds, so rather than taking 3 pills per day, I take one at night. Have been doing this for years. Source Naturals has the best formulation. Have tried others and nothing like it.

I have this product and am just starting with extra magnesium, but I'm confused....how much magnesium are you getting with one tablet? (Source Naturals Magnesium Malate) I get magnesium (in different forms) with my Cal-Mag (250 mg) and some from my multi vitamin (100 mg) so I don't want to overdue it. I've started out taking one extra a day but even that looks like a lot so how much is in one tablet?
          Terri B on Mar 2, 2014
Best Answer: This has 425 mg of magnesium malate plus a bit more in the magnesium malate and malic acid compound. Since Mag Mal has a laxative effect (remember Milk of Magnesia in the blue bottle?) you will know when you are taking too much for your system. I've been taking this for years for my fibromyalgia and need the higher dosage as I don't assimilate vitamins and minerals well. You may not need this high an amount. Hope that helps!

Is this product good for people who suffer leg cramps?
          Rasul H on Apr 30, 2014
Best Answer: It is very good for leg cramps. It sounds like you are are low in magnesium and that's the classic symptom. I don't know if this milligram is the dosage you need.
I take this type of magnesium for fibromalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome.
You might want to do a search on a website for magnesium malate information to see if it is for you and the dosage.

          Magnesium Malate
          Magnesium Malate
Best Answer: The difference is in the organic acid used to make the magnesium soluble and palatable. Malic acid's chemical formula is HO2CCH2CHOHCO2H=C4H6O5. Citric acid's chemical formula is HO2CCH2COHCH2CO2HCO2H=C6H8O7. Both are natural organic acids found in fruits. There may be minor differences in solubility, but otherwise the supplements should be equivalent if they contain the same amount of magnesium per tablet or caplet, and which you choose would depend on your personal preference.

any side effects of this product?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on Oct 21, 2013
Best Answer: At labeled doses, none. Our doctor has our son take more than the labeled dose and we had to increase it gradually due to the possibility of loose stools at higher doses.
