I had no idea this product was going to be so great. I have been taking now for about a month. Within a couple weeks i noticed for the first time in a long time i do not have to take a nap. Since giving birth to my 3rd child(almost a yr ago) i have been dragging through the days like a zombie, tired, sad, etc. I now feel like my old self again, i have energy, clarity and a overall feeling of happiness and i look forward to doing things again! I read in prevention magazine the wonders of vitamin D, and they were right. I have never written a review before but just had to let everyone know. If any of you have similiar symptons to what i had then get this product, you will be pleasently surprised!

Comments about Vitamin Shoppe Vitamin D3 (2000 IU) - 100 Softgels:
My level was at 13! So deficient. After the doctors super dose for a few weeks, then continuing on this suppliment, I was at level 69. A year later I asked to have it checked again. I was at 91. This has been a life saver for my future bone health. Once daily, I am no longer deficient. And will all my weird food and vitamin sensitivities, I am happy to have no break out from this vitamin.

Comments about Vitamin Shoppe Vitamin D3 (2000 IU) - 100 Softgels:
Vitamin D is a very good vitamin to be taking. Many people have a deficiency of vitamin D (this can cause rickets), so taking a regulated amount every day can greatly help resolve that health concern. Also, people who have a normal amount of vitamin D in their body, are less likely to get sick.

Will be trying this supplement today. Want to share that you must test to make sure you're getting adequate D levels and not overdosing as that can be a problem too. Read

Very good advice. While we're on the subject--to properly absorb Vit. D we need vit. k also. Getting the right balance of supplements drives me nuts. I'm glad the VS does their research.

Comments about Vitamin Shoppe Vitamin D3 (2000 IU) - 100 Softgels:
My husband and I both were tested for low vitamin D. I am very disappointed the FDA found it necessary to continue with a low dosage in One-A-Day vitamins. My husband is out in the sun all day...we live in a sunny state. But for some reason he doesn't absorb the Vit. D. Our Dr. told both of us to take Vit. D. My husband takes twice as much as I do daily.

I always wonder if the vitamins I take are as potent as they are cracked up to be. How can you know for sure? Well my doctor has tested my blood level several times and after taking this product my Vitamin D level went up, so you know this stuff is for real. Getting sick much less often (knock wood). And it's not that expensive.

It's super good for you without the hassle of grinding flax seeds. Dec 11, 2012
While it is rare for those taking Vitamin D supplements to develop toxic effects, it is possible. It usually seen in people with underlying diseases such as kidney or liver problems. Excessive levels of Vitamin D can increase calcium levels which can lead to nausea, vomiting, and poor appetite among other symptoms. This could become a moderate or serious complication reuquiring intravenous fluids and/or other medications to treat. Generalized weakness, frequent urination and other kidney problems may occur. Greater risks are seen in people with liver or kidney problems or who take thiazide diuretics such as Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) or chlorthalidone.
The current recommended dietary allowance (RDA) for Vitamin D for adults is 600 IU under 70 years of age and 800 IU for those over 70. Studies have shown that many people are Vitamin D deficient. Particularly, those living north of the Equator in colder climates and night shift workers to name a few. Studies also show that most people can safely take 2000 IU (mg) of Vitamin D daily without any harmful effects. When some one is severely deficient in Vitamin D, the weekly dose given by physicians is several thousand times greater. It is given for a short period of time and their levels are monitored during the course of therapy.
If you have any question about which dose is appropriate for you, don't hesitate to discuss this with your physician or other licensed health care provider Jan 18, 2013
One side affect I had heard was megadosing can produce kidney stones, but I've not confirmed that. Still, I am using this dosage, have been using it for a 5+ years now (and did pass a stone this year, but analysis said that was likely a excessive salt/not enough water intake issue).
I did a Google search and the first 3 links that showed up were on the Mayo Clinic site, National Institute of Health site, and WebMD. They all had good information there. (I would have included the links, but Vitamin Shoppe states not to include them in responses). Jan 18, 2013
