It does not have the best taste but it did not bother my stomach. I have a little booklet about Floradix put out by Flora that my mom gave to me. (I don't know where she got it from). This should answer your question about absorption. The following is quoted from the booklet:

Nutrients that interfere with absorption if taken simultaneously:
vitamin E, calcium, zinc, magnesium, manganese, excess copper and heavy metals such as cadmium, cobalt or lead in the body (This is why it is better to take iron away from food and your multivitamin).

Factors that increase iron absorption:
vitamin C (ascorbic acid), B12 and folic acid, fructose (fruit juices), glucose, amino acids/protein, chelating agents such as gluconate or fumurate, presence of heme iron (animal) which increases non-heme iron absorption

Foods that decrease iron absorption:
tea and coffee consumption with a meal reduces iron absorption up to 60-70%, oxalates (found in uncooked spinach, rhubarb), phytates (found in carbonated beverages), phosphates (found in soft drinks and processed foods), fiber, protein deficiency as protein is needed to carry iron from the small intestine to the blood, milk proteins

  Yes,I've been taking it for years and it is much more absorbable than a vitamin pill and in a much more natural liquid state of real fruits and vegetable juices. I have found it very easy on my stomach and a great way to get a natural form of iron. It taste great too.

  I've taken Floradix for years. My stomach is sensitive to some supplements. I've never had an upset stomach--even when I've taken it on an empty stomach. It's a great source of iron.

  Yes, a naturopathic doctor recommended this product for my mom because she likes liquid better and has been taken it for years. Great product.

  It also affected my teeth. I had them cleaned by a dentist. If you still need to use the product, dilute it with water first.

  I have not had any problem with it staining my teeth. I have been using it for about 3 years. I have found it very good it was recommended by my hematologist since I have also a bleeding problem other iron tablets gave my very dark stools, and of course this does not.

  I do not have this problem.. Maybe because, after consuming one bottle, I make a brake of at least three months.. Because with iron have to be careful, and take brakes from it.. Try baking soda instead of toothpaste, twice or three times a day, for at least two weeks to remove those teeth stains.

  You need to talk to your pediatrician. Did your baby have a diagnosis of iron deficiency? If your doctor did not prescribe this for your baby DO NOT give it to them! improper dose of Iron can be toxic--especially to children.

  I would say that depends on the 1 year old; if you know they are iron deficient, this is a very safe and natural supplement (in a smaller dose); if you are throwing darts at symptoms I would tread lightly with iron supplements in general.

It's my impression that Floradix should be taken on an empty stomach, though my Doctor encouraged me to take it with a sip of orange juice to improve uptake. That being said, I usually take it when I get up, but then I'm eating shortly after that.
