This caprylic acid says that it is derived from calcium, magnesium, and zinc caprylates. It is my understanding that caprylic acid is derived from coconut oil. Can someone please shed some light on this? My most logical guess is that the cal/ mag/ and zinc caprylates are themselves derived from coconut oil.

Much thanks for any help in understanding this.

Best Answer:  Yes, the caprylic acid is derived from either coconut or palm oils. The calcium, magnesium and zinc caprylates are the minerals contained in the caprylic acid. Mineral caprylates are more beneficial to the needs of the small intestine because they are not readily water soluable so they do not break down in the stomach but rather in the small intestine.
