Used to buy a "NoCarbs Blend, Non-Bitter Zero Calories" stevia product from an online company. The product was good, I just thought I could find something as good and for a lesser price. After searching the net I found Pure Stevia Extract from Kal. I was hesitant to try it at first, since I have been using my previous product for years but, boy, I am so glad I did. The pure stevia from Kal does exactly what it says. I've found it to be the best for taste, quality and price. Just a little goes a long way & this is actually a 3.5 oz size bottle, not 3 oz as stated on the ad. It is pure with NO fillers and other "stuff" added - just good tasting pure stevia. I strongly recommend this product! and no! I was not paid for my review. I am just a very happy consumer and like to share my finding with others, specially those who are diabetic.

Comments about KAL Pure Stevia Extract Powder - 3 Ounces Powder:

I bought a bottle of Kal at vitamin shoppe in hoover Al had no maltdextine listed as other ingred. I ordered one online looked at product list no maltdextine listed. When I received the bottled has maltdextine listed as other. Control blood sugar with diet can't get it to balance. Won't order this product anymore . The ingred should be listed.

Comments about KAL Pure Stevia Extract Powder - 3 Ounces Powder:

Contains this extra gross ingredient now. No longer pure. You will feel and taste the difference. Why they destroyed the best stevia on the market I do not know. Contacted company. No explanation.

Not the worst--but no longer the best.

More like a question. I can't seem to lose any weight, and I know it's not my eating habits. HOWEVER, I tend to drink a lot of coffee and tea during the day, and can use up to 4 tsps. of sugar. ( your talking at least 40 teaspoons daily ) I have a feeling this is the reason for my weight. I love my tea and coffee. Does this Stevia take the place? what are the chances of losing weight with it? please help thank you

I use this as a sweetener in coffee and other beverages. I tried using it in deserts, but the taste is unpleasant compared to sugar. I like that it has been favorably suggested to not only replace sugar but several sources suggest it may even help keep blood sugar level. After a few weeks I'm still trying to get used to the taste. It's slightly unpleasant to me. Initially the taste is identical to sugar, but there is a strange aftertaste.

I've been trying to eliminate sugar from my diet, and it is not easy, but since I started using this Stevia it's been helping a LOT!!!! A incredibly small amount makes a huge difference to anything you eat. I can add 1 tiny scoop (The scoop that's in the bottle) and it completely replaces all the sugar that I've been putting in my coffees through creamers. I can't say enough about how much I love it. Plus, the large bottle is an amazing price it'll last me at least 6 months before I need more, probably longer.

Comments about KAL Pure Stevia Extract Powder - 3 Ounces Powder:

As the author of raw vegan recipe books (such as The Little Book of Raw Vegan Holiday Recipes), I switched to stevia as my sweetener when I discovered KAL Pure Stevia. I had tried other stevia products, but I didn't like their taste, and/or I didn't like the other ingredients in them.

KAL Pure Stevia works really well in all of my recipes, from raw vegan ice cream to pies, puddings, dehydrator-made cookies, and more. As other reviewers have noted, it brings no bad aftertaste. I use just a tiny bit, because it's very sweet and you don't need much.

This container comes with a tiny white spoon inside, which looks to be around 1/16th of a teaspoon. I make all of my own food (because there are no raw vegan restaurants in my area), and the container I bought more than a year ago is still at least 1/3 full. So, as you can see, it lasts a long time.

I recommend KAL Pure Stevia all the time, in my recipe books, on my online newsmagazine (RawFoodsNewsMagazine.com), and in my social media posts. I know this sounds like an advertisement for KAL, but I'm passionate about their stevia, because it's so much better for our health than conventional sweeteners like sugar, artificial sweeteners, the very-high-in-fructose agave nectar, and even honey, which is high on the glycemic scale.

I wish I could get more dessert makers to use KAL Pure Stevia instead of whatever other sweeteners they're using!

My family has tried different brands of stevia and this is the best one we've found. It leaves no after taste, dissolves easily, and has a pleasant taste. It doesn't take much to sweeten a cup of tea or coffee. Highly recommend it.

In my quest to eliminate artification sweetners and sugar from by diet, I began using Stevia. I've tried many brands, all of which possess a horrible aftertaste. I was in a health store lamenting the horrible aftertaste of Stevia which threatened to jeopordize my efforts to eliminate the foregoing when a patron suggested this brand. This was 3 years ago. I've used it since. It has virtually no aftertaste. The diminimus taste that it does have is highly palatable. It's more expensive that other brands but it's worth it.

I have tried many types of stevia and this one is by far my favorite. I use it multiple times a day. Stevia is definitely an acquired taste and only a very little bit is needed. The Vitamin Shoppe offers the best price that I have found and has always been in stock when I needed.

This is The Best. It only takes a "light dusting" of this powder to really sweeten...and no bitterness unless you're heavy-handed and use too much. And, now I've found that plain ol' sugar just doesn't have the right amount of sweetness! I wonder what they've done to the sugar now. KAL please don't change it, pretty please. :)

I mainly use KAL stevia (no added ingredients) in hot and cold drinks, but have also used it in some cooking recipies where sugar is required, such as a homemade miracle whip type of dressing. I have also baked 3 types of dessert with it and liked the end product, although it isn't the same taste as a true sugary dessert. It seems stevia can be an acquired taste, but I enjoyed this brand the first time I had it in iced tea. There is no after taste. I am thrilled to finally enjoy a sweet drink without any calories and yet it is not an artificial sweetner. I have not tried a different stevia product because I enjoy this one and have no cons to report.

You can use this product to sweeten anything hot or cold; use for baking (I use it alone in my batters..no sugar, sugar product, or toxic man made sugar substitute) and nobody can tell the difference. It's 100& stevia, no additives. There is no aftertaste and the powder is easy to use. I put some in a smaller container to carry in my purse and it is so convenient. Be careful about the brands that regular retail stores cary now that stevia is more on the 'regular' market as many of them have bulking additives or other and there is no need to consume that.

Comments about KAL Pure Stevia Extract Powder - 3 Ounces Powder:

I really like this product and find it to be very easy to get used to it unlike other products. A small amount goes a long way. I love the fact that is all natural and the only ingredient is the Stevia extract.

I am trying to break artificial sweetener use. I had been able to except for my morning coffee, while I was able to reduce the amount of 'pink stuff' i was not able to go without - i tried this because of the great reviews - I have tried all kinds of replacements and I just can't palate most of them - this was AWESOME! It is all natural and has very little aftertaste - I highly recommend. I use one tiny scoop for 10C of coffee, it sweetens it perfectly for me. I have used it on other things that need a hint of sweetness and have been very pleased as well.

The latest one I bought seems to be different. It doesn't dissolve as good and seems inferior to what I had been getting. I am disappointed. It's still some of the best on the market. I have tried the organic version and it is bitter, unfortunately. I don't know why, but I was extremely disappointed in that because I would rather use the organic.

Bonnie W asked: On the basis of its good online reviews, I purchased some KAL Pure Stevia Extract (powder) through the Vitamin Shoppe website. Upon receipt, I was very disturbed to see a "Product of China" label on the bottle. China is notorious for extending their foodstuffs with dangerous materials like melamine - witness the cat food debacle of a few years ago, in which cat foods made with melamine-contaminated ingredients from China caused kidney failure and death to cats around the world. Last year, melamine in dog food ingredients sourced from China had the same result. Most recently, baby formulas were found to be contaminated with the stuff.

I thought KAL was made in the US and subject to food safety regulations. Guess not. I've written to the company, but have not yet received a reply.

Is anyone else bothered by this?

null n: Maltodextrin is the other listed ingredient... it can be enzymatically derived from any starch. In the US, this starch is usually corn; in Europe, it is commonly wheat. While wheat-derived maltodextrin may cause concern for individuals suffering from gluten intolerance, maltodextrin is such a highly processed ingredient that the majority of the protein is removed, rendering it effectively gluten-free.[citation needed] If wheat is used to make maltodextrin, it will appear on the label. Even so, the maltodextrin itself will be gluten-free.[3][ Mar 17, 2014

Susan M: This stevia powder is primo and very concentrated without bitterness- sugar is extinct for me. Anyway, I would say, for a cup of coffee I use one quick shake of powder from the SMALLER bottle- not the big 3.5 oz one. It's merely a light dusting of the stuff for a cup of strong coffee and I like mine SWEET. I think alot of people use too much and say it's bitter. It's not. Just try it in a cup and see how sweet you like it. I never use the miniscule spoon in there because it's too much for a cup. Go step by step, slowly and don't overdo it. It's difficult to advise on sweetness- everyone if different..but this stuff lasts forever..and I love it! Mar 15, 2013

Beth K: Tammy, you really just have to add the stevia powder until your drink is like you like it. When I make an 8 oz. mug of herbal tea/green tea I put one of the scoops that is in the bottle. For a 2-qt. pitcher of drink I would just add a couple of the scoops (or more) until you get to the desired taste. Count the scoops, then you will know next time. This stevia powder is very concentrated and therfore very sweet. It's probably as sweet as a couple of teaspoons of sugar. I don't know the ratio though. You will just have to experiment. What I like about this stevia is it doesn't have an aftertaste to me. Good luck! Mar 15, 2013

Tammy L: Thanks Susan and Beth for your answers--I appreciate them very much. I have experimented in the past couple of weeks and I've found that if I want to make a 2 quart pitcher of Koolaid, for instance, it takes 8-9 of the tiny scoops (level scoops or less). I'm figuring I would need a similar amount for a pitcher of sweet tea, but I haven't tried tea yet (waiting for summer to arrive for that!). Even though 8-9 scoops seems like a lot in a way, I can still see this bottle lasting a really long time, with over 2000 scoops in the bottle! I think this has been one of the best buys I've made in a long time. I highly recommend this product! Apr 10, 2013

Dot L: This particular Stevia Extract is the best (Kal Pure Stevia Extract). I found that the tiny scoop they give you with the bottle is probably 1/16th of a teaspoon and that is equal to a teaspoon of regular sugar. This little bottle of Stevia (I think it's 3.5 ozs.) lasts me up to six months sometimes longer. To answer your question about a 2 quart (1/2 gallon) pitcher of drink, I have to say it would be according to taste however, 24 teaspoons = 1/2 cup of sugar - I would start with 12 to 24 tiny scoops and test it from there. It is quite a refreshing sweetener, no after taste. Mar 15, 2013

Tammy L: Oh, and one more thing--if anyone has had difficulty mixing this powdered stevia into cold drinks, there's an easy way to get around that. Just sprinkle the stevia on the top surface of the drink and let it sit there for a minute or two without disturbing it. The powder will absorb water and dissolve on its own very easily this way. When you no longer see white specks on the surface of your drink, then you can mix it with a spoon with no clumping at all. Apr 10, 2013

Judy F: I would use 1 to 2 level scoops per quart, but this depends on your taste f or sweetness. The good thing is, each scoop is a small amount and you can just add one at a time until it is to your liking.

1/4 tsp equals 1 Tbs of sugar,
but point out that sour foods may need more than sweeter foods.

                                Hope that helps.

Andreea P: It's hard to estimate exactly, I drink tea in 16 oz mugs and I use the equivalent of a pinch or two (I fine tune it by taste). Multiply that by how many 16 oz go in 2 quarts.
The ratio of substitution of stevia powder for sugar would be a pinch to a teaspoon.
Sorry I can't be more helpful than that. You can use this as a guide and go by trial and error.

Mary Ellen B: I'm not sure because I usually use it in tea, but I would start with a teaspon and then taste and add another teaspoon and taste. Your taste may call for a sweeter or more tart taste than anyone else. Even if you had a conversion chart, I would recommend tasting for yourself. It's very sweet so a teaspoo full is a lot. Kathy A: One small scoop of stevia to one tsp of sugar. I like two scoops of stevia in my tea. I use big tea cups. One scoopp for two cups of liquid. Start small and taste it then add as necessary. Taste preferences vary greatly for each person and you must try some and seee how you like it. Paul A. Mar 20, 2013

Pandra S: I use a quarter of a teaspoon for a gallon of tea, so for a two quart pitcher I would use one-eigth of a teaspoon. I don't like things very sweet, though, so try that and see if it's sweet enough. I have found that a quarter of a teaspoon is about the same as a cup of sugar. Mar 15, 2013

                                Carol H: Hi Tammy,
Since there is 4 cups in a quart and therefore 8 cups in 2 quarts, I would recommend 6 to 8 scoops of Stevia. Of course, using the scoop that is included in in Stevia container. I would try less...you can always add more. I hope you find this helpful.

Kathy A: Kal brand Stevia is one of the VERY few manufacturers who do not add anything to their Pure Stevia product. They have a Stevia product with fiber added, but the PURE STVEIA EXTRACT is labeled just that, PURE. I cannot prove anything beyond what is on the label however. But it is the only one that actually tastes like Stevia to us.
Use it sparingly to start with as I found it flavorful and good. Now I love it. A good healthy scoop is what I now use. God Bless you.

Unfortunately, Kal does now add Maltodextrin to their Pure Stevia Extract. I have used Kal for years, and no added ingredients; however, the most recent purchase shows Maltodextrin as Other Ingredient. So just be ware when you go to reorder. Trying to verify is Vitamin Shoppe's on line product is from the old stock or Kal's new version. Feb 3, 2014
Jimmy R: My wife and I have been mostly using this stevia product for a few years now. We've tried many others, but none seem to sweeten as well as KAL. As far as whether KAL has added Maltodextrin, I can't definitively answer that, but the label says NO OTHER INGREDIENTS have been added. It still tastes the same and, as I said, it sweetens as it has in the past. We will be ordering KAL again when it' time.

luluu b: The 3-ounce bottle says 'serving size 1 scoop, 2381 servings' but does not state the actual volume/measure/amount of the teeny, tiny scoop. i measured years ago, and found it to be equal to about 1/32 of a teaspoon. i found a conversion table that says 1/2 tsp stevia extract powder = 1/2 cup white sugar. All the math makes my head hurt. ;-) We use it primarily in small increments for sweetening beverages, homemade salad dressings, etc. and it lasts about 3 months for 2 people. We selected this brand several years ago, after trying many different brands and types. We like it because it is PURE Stevia EXTRACT, with no fillers and no bitter aftertaste, as so many of the others have. plus ordering online from Vitamin Shoppe saves money and time. Mar 19, 2013

Barbara B: This will last me a long time due to I don't use that much as someone else would. Stevia is a strong sweetener and you only need a speck to sweeten tea or coffee. The people who sell it should be able to tell you how much one bottle can serve. The back of my bottle sayes 2381 servings. But I purchased it due to it is ONLY stevia in the container. Nothing else! The other one I purchase else where had an ingredient that I researched and came to find out it was the stuff they put in items to keep moisture out of. For instance I had a leather coat with a pack of the stuff in the pocket when I purchased it. thats the stuff that was in my stevia. I will now look at labels before i purchase stevia from now on. This is pure stevia and that is the reason I purchased it. Serving will determine how much you need to sweeten your food that your using it in. Mar 23, 2013
