  My husband takes iron supplements for iron deficiency anemia. His physician checks him every 6 months to be sure his rbc & ferratin levels are being maintained--3 years now. According to the Dr., it may take up to 6 months to restore your iron levels, then based on your condition, you may or may not have to continue with supplemental iron. Hope this helps you.

I usually take it everyday.. I am low on Iron and do not eat meat.. This has been a great supplement for me instead of any Iron pills.

There are times when I will lay off for a week because it is expensive, but I love it. Ask your Doctor

  Tammy - It depends on your needs. I have vegetarian friends that take it regularly to supplement their iron intake. I take it for a couple of weeks and then take off a couple of weeks etc. to keep my iron levels good.

  The taste is not good but this helped me with my low iron levels when pregnant and didn't have the other negative side effect of iron pills. You can mix it with OJ to make it more palatable.

  Your Dr. would best prescribe how much to take as iron is absorbed differently and some foods can effect absorption. My husband was taking about 75mg of iron daily for iron deficiency anemia. Iron is very constipating and can also be toxic taken in very high doses. Floridix is easy to take, has a non constipating formula (plant based), directions is 1-10 ml dose 2 x daily (20 mg) taken 30 min before meals.

  Hi Ami, I had a similar issue when I started taking this product. I doubled the dose, one in the morning and one at night. The product works great and my iron is no longer an issue. I hope this helps.

You need to consult your doctor if your iron is extremely low. The real cause of extremely low iron needs to be found out. I would not use iron supplement on my own in your situation.
