Kenneth B: Let me preface this by saying there are no simple magic 1 pill solutions to blood pressure problems, but here is what has worked for me (note that this advice is my wife an RD would support): 1) make sure you are getting enough exercise. Even 30 minute walk a day will help; 2) eat more like our ancestors (plenty of veggies of all kinds, limited starches and sugars, minimal but very lean meat; 3) only whole grain breads and in moderation; 4) reduce or eliminate salt; 5) avoid processed and fried foods; 6) be sure to get enough good quality Omega 3 FAs; 7) Get plenty of soluble and insoluble fiber; drink plenty of water (6-8 glasses a day); 8) evidence suggests Garlic is very helpful if combined with the other things I've listed; 9) watch you portion sizes as most people consume far more calories than they need each day and obesity (even moderate) in most people will be a factor in high blood pressure and other aliments; 10) if you smoke, quit as smoking is a known cause of arterial hardening and resultant high blood pressure. Gail Y: I have been using Kyolic 109 along with my blood pressure medicine because my BP was not really as low as it should be. This seems to be helping, my BP is closer to normal on a more regular basis and I am only taking half the dose at this time. Garlic has so many documented benefits, I feel this is a better option for myself than taking more prescription medicine. I have also been taking Alive! Once Daily Women's 50+ Multi's and I noticed a positive difference in my BP with that also. And I can't leave out magnesium. Lots of good info about these products on the Vitamin Shoppe site. Always a good idea to check out the info available to make sure these are right for you. Jun 24, 2013
