My son is 12 and takes 2 tablets twice a day (prescribed by his naturopath). He has been on the same dosage since age 6 so I don't think the age/weight really matters. If he experiences some reflux (usually from over eating, especially ice cream), he just chews another one and he's fine.

I don't have acid reflux but on occassion, I may experience it. I chew one DGL and it's gone.

It's an acquired taste though. My son has tried many brands. He liked Natural Factors for a long time but has been able to adjust to Vitamin Shoppe's fairly easily. He doesn't like the chocolate flavored kind because it's a "fake chocolate" taste on top of strong licorice which he thinks is worse. I thought the chocolate ones tasted better.

  Just take according to the instructions. I would take 1 or 2 depending on how uncomfortable I was. But according to the nutritional manual, licorice is very good for digestion and can be taken every day. Get on line as the information is great. It would work for me within just a few minutes.   I took 2 of these every night when I stopped taking Prevacid. Sometimes one during the day. I now take 1 each night as maintenance. It works by constricting the sphincter in your throat. It worked for me, and better yet I no longer take the Pharmaceuticals!!

  I'd follow the recommended dosage. I took it for an ulcer years ago and it worked great.

  Yes. My son was born with acid reflux and was on prescription medications from 2 months old to 6 years old. I brought him to a naturopath that told me to switch to DGLs. I had never heard of them but after searching the internet, I found a study from the 90s that showed DGLs had the same effect as Prilosec and Prevacid without the side effects.

My son is now 12 and doing fine on DGLs. He takes 2 twice a day and if his reflux acts up (usually from over eating, especially ice cream), he just chews another one and he's fine.

It was a little tricky making the transition from Prevacid to DGL (Prevacid was Rx at the time). The Prevacid constipated him so he had to take Miralax. Miralax is very touchy, just the slightest change in dosage caused major changes, and not for the better. Once I realized that Miralax was the problem, I started reducing the Prevacid and Miralax by equal amounts 1 week at a time (he had already been taking the DGLs for weeks before trying to end the other meds).

The only difference I have found between brands is the taste. The taste takes some getting used to.

Also note that these tablets must be chewed to be effective. If the person is not capable of chewing, DGLs can not help them.

  I can't be sure because I tend to forget and not take it all the time, but I do usually take it at least once a day. But I feel like it does. I wanted to get off of omeprazole so decided to try this.
I'd recommend trying it (I take 2 at a time shortly before a meal or bedtime) and see what you think. That's how I started, and I now keep a supply on hand. Hope this helps some....

  I purchased this product for my mother who suffers from acid reflux. Unfortunately, she couldn't tolerate the taste and stopped using the product. Hopefully someone else can answer your question.

  I don't go anywhere without it, it's in my bag. I also take it at night before bed. I found that melting the tablet in my mouth works better than chewing. I would rather use this than an antacid.

I THINK it helps. I have been using DGL, Slippery Elm Bark, and Aloe Vera juice/gel mixed in with my morning cup of Ginger Tea. My acid reflux is greatly reduced.

  My husband and I both take nexium and the generic nexium. I've been able to stop taking both and my husband is down to just the generic nexium. It helped is both.

I got it for a stomach acid problem, but haven't tried it. I quit taking ibuprofen and my problems were mostly solved.

  Yes,please take 2 tablets 15 min before meals 3 times a day for 6-8 weeks. A good vegetarian diet also helps. Sleep slanted too. Wait to sleep 2 hrs after meals.

  I do take it every day. It really helps with reflux. However, I take it differently then they say. I believe they recommend one or two before eating. I chew one or two tablets before I go to bed. It helps me the most then. Sometimes I might also take it during the day. I don't think it is something you take just when you are having reflux but it probably would help some then too.

  Yes, I take them before any coffee, tea, citrus, soda, alcohol, chocolate, and anything that causes heartburn. It really helps, and I take many in a day, everyday, and don't need medication.

  The product label does not specify a time amount. Would recommend 20-30 minutes prior, but that is just personal preference.

  I've never used it for chronic back pain. However, it's great for indigestion, nausea, etc. In Europe it's used the same way we use Tums in the U. S.
