Awesome product!
This is a great product. It was recommended by my physician as an alternative treatment. It has lowered my total cholesterol by 30 points and the HDL increased by +7. I highly recommend this product!!

Keeps cholesterol in check!
Quite a few years back now, doctor recommended red yeast rice for keeping cholesterol levels in range where they should be. Decided on Source Naturals & it works great! Started with regular & then switched over to extended release; both very suitable.

****Cholesterol Lowered****
After 10 years on 3 different cholesterol medications and horrible episodes of leg cramps due to medication, a family member suggested I try Red Yeast Rice. I chose this brand for its vegetarian and prescription quality. I didn't tell my physician that I was replacing meds with RYR. I took faithfully for 3 months (just to mention I only eat fish and chicken as far as meat). After the Christmas holidays and overindulging in holiday deserts I decided to get blood work done. I expected my doctor to call me screaming about my elevated #s. Much to my surprise my overall cholesterol dropped 50 points. Bad cholesterol dropped too, good #s stayed the same. My doctor told me to keep doing what I've been doing. Wish I discovered RYR years ago.

This really works!!
Nature Plus Red Yeast Rice tablets taken as directed have brought my total cholesterol from over 220 to 120 in less than a year. It was actually recommended by my primary care physician when I declined taking prescriptions statins. I've heard about so many negative experiences from friends taking them. My daughter (a pharmacist) also agreed I should try this product. At my physician's request I am not taking any Red Yeast Rice for a 4 month period to see if my numbers change; If they do I'll be reordering !!

I will continue to buy this product.
I have been taking Red Yeast Rice for some time. My cholesterol level went down 40 points by taking this product. I will continue to take Red Yeast Rice.

This product works!
I had no negative side effects using this product. When I was taking Simvastatin I had muscle aches in the lower back and legs, that is why I tried this product. My blood results were positive too. My last total cholesterol number was 224 with Simvastatin. After taking this product for three months it was 196.

Mini Tablets??? NOT
From the pictures online and the fact that the bottle and description said "Mini Tabs", I was so pleased to know it would be something I could swallow!! I have a restricted airway from radiation and choke (literally) on bigger pills and tablets and big pieces of food. Trying to get LDL levels down. Fish oil not working. Mega Reds too big also. This order was shipped super fast, but when I opened the bottle I was shocked at how big the tablets are! Vitamin D pills are whT in would term Mini tabs! These pills or horse size pills. Now I have to crush them every time I take??! Boo!! They aren't that easy to crush. Just really disappointed. My Dr and many others had highly recommended Red Yeast Rice to help with cholesterol!

Amazing!
My physician recommended that I take this supplement in lieu of prescription medication since my cholesterol numbers were borderline. In just two weeks time, my cholesterol dropped 60 points so now I only need to take 4x/week. Have recommended to many friends and family.

Best news: no side effects which for me is unusual since I have multiple allergies and
high sensitivity to medications.

Red Yeast Rice Extended Release tablets
I take 2 pills daily to reduce my cholesterol as suggested by my doctor and it really works. She's happy and so am I. Won't do without it. I highly recommend this product!!

Trying to bring down my LDL levels in particular, as well as total cholesterol. LDL has been 155-190. Total Cholesterol 240-260. Any recommendation on dose and combining with other supplements would be apprreciated. Some have suggested adding CoQ10 & omega-3. Are these necessary to get results? Also is time of day when taken important? The bottle has a recommendation on the cap to take at night. All experience is welcome. Thanks.

Best Answer:  It works, I had problems with prescription drugs to bring my chlorestrole under control and had to stop taking them. My doctor suggested this instead and my numbers are better than ever.

I cannot swallow very big pills due to throat cancer. Can you crush these tablets and take with applesauce or whatever? Thanks for any help!

Best Answer:  I can't say whether or not these are crushable, but usually when a pill is coated it means that they intend for it to make it farther into your digestive system before being absorbed. I think this is even more so, since they are promoted as "extended release".

The pills are coated and are relatively easy to swallow (although I usually never have that problem). Nature's Plus also makes a "mini-tab" version with two smaller pills for each dose--but it does not look like VS carries that version.

Is this product Citrinin free? This occurs in the RYR process and can potentionaly cause kidney failure...not always but it can happen. Thank you!

Best Answer:  I don't know if it contains Citrinin. I have an article that evaluates 12 RYR products and only 4 were found to contain Citrinin. However the manufactuers were not named. The Nature's Plus product was recommended to me by a Biochemist. He uses it and I have used it for many years with no ill effects.
