      Same diet, working out more, taking the Red Yeast Rice 600mg at night every day and my total cholesterol went down slightly in one year. Cholesterol numbers are complicated, but I'm pleased so far with the supplement combined with exercise.

      Impressive results
      I took it for 4 months had my blood work done and and my cholesterol went from 311 to 220. impressive. So far I haven't notice any side effects.

      A Consumer Lab Report Showed that this product contains citrinin, a mycotoxin with possible nephrotoxicity. Isn't anyone concerned about this ?

      Best Answer:  I am concerned as well now that I have read the full supplement facts on the back of my Solaray Red Yeast Rice 600mg Citrinin-Free bottle. There is a Prop65 Notice on the back of the bottle regarding Reproductive Harm!! I do not like this warning at all on something I am putting in my body!!

      Best Answer:  A UCLA medical study in the 90's of Red Yeast used a dosage level of two 600 mg. capsules in the AM and two 600 mg. capsules in the PM. Significant drops in LDL (the bad chol) were reported and lower overall total chol of course. I have achieved my goal for a number of years, which is to maintain an LDL level in the nineties. My total is 135. I have used other brands of Red Yeast Rice, but I found Solaray was able to lower my chol most dramatically. Other brands are less efficacious. You should take a co-q-10 capsule with every dosage of Red Yeast. Solaray offers a good combo pill, but I prefer to take a separate supplement as I want a higher dosage of co-q-10.
