What is Xylitol?

Xylitol is a sweet, crystalline carbohydrate that occurs naturally in virtually all fruits and vegetables. Our body even produce small amounts of it each day. Xylitol's powerful oral and upper respiratory health benefits come from its unique five-carbon structure.

Modern science has noted the value of saline sprays in promoting sinus health, but simple saline sprays alone can be drying to nasal passages. The addition of natural Xylitol helps to ensure that beyond just cleansing. Xlear nasal spray also moisturizes and protects the delicate tissues. Xlear nasal spray is gentle enough for infants, but effective in adults as well.

Directions

The metered nasal pump sprayer provides a precise amount of soothing spray in a fine mist. Clear the nasal passagway by gently blowing your nose before using Xlear. Prior to initial use, remove clear cap, prime the pump by holding it upright and pumping one or more times until the solution is dispensed. Insert nozzle into nostril and depress pump completely while breathing in through your nose. Clean nozzle after use & replace safety caps. Spray 2-4 times in each nostril. Use at least twice a day morning and night. Xlear is safe to use as often as needed for optimal health to cleanse sinuses and nasal passages.Uses: Gently cleans sinus and nasal passages. Washes away pollutants, irritants and other airborne contaminants. Help soothe & moisturize nasal passages due to low humidity, pollutants, overuse of nasal decongestants & other nasal irritants. Thins & loosens mucous secretion.

Works well
I absolutely love this nasal spray and recommend to all my friends and family. It helps with allergies, the dry sinus discomfort one gets in the winter, and appears to shorten the duration of viruses.

Extremely powerful

Excellent All Natural Safe Product
This products can be used multiple times daily with no fear of addictive qualities. Great for allergies and also for dry nasal passages due to air conditioning or heated winter rooms.

Very Soothing
When I went through chemo some years back, I even lost the hairs inside my nose! These hairs are necessary to move moisture into the nose, sinus cavities and throat; without them, I had a constant nasal drip, but felt dried out. Xlear Nasal Spray replaced the lost moisture and didn't burn. I keep in on hand and use Xlear to combat dryness caused by inside heating/air-conditioning, seasonal change and colds. My husband loves it when his head gets too dry from decongestants during allergy season.

I know that xylitol can cause digestive issues, can this happen with a nasal spray?

Best Answer:  Actually, Xylitol is tolerated quite well..as a dental professional I often recommend my patients consume 6mg/day(gums, mint & mouthwash) in order to fight decay. ..I have not been told that any of my patients have had a problem.
That being said, I use xylitol nasal rinse everyday and if I have a sinus problem, I Neti pot with Saline & xylitol; 6xs a day. I have never had a digestive issue in the 10 years I have been doing this.

Best Answer:  Yes, this is a nasal spray and a very good one at that. I know of no other way you would use it except as a nasal spray.

Best Answer:  Personally: I would use it. However, I am not a doctor and if she is concerned I'd advise her to bring it to a Naturopathic Physician ("cause regular MD's wouldn't know). She could also google the ingredients and judge by that.

I heard a doctor in Columbus Ga talk about this product a while back. My husband suffers from sleep apnea, and she was linking the connection of sleep apnea and this product helping. Anyone out there using this product that has or had sleep apnea? My husband goes this week for a sleep study.. *2nd one*... Thanks.

Best Answer:  My husband does not have sleep apnea but he uses X-Clear nightly and swears it helps his breathing passages stay more open and moistened. Since X-Clear's active ingredient is Xylitol, which is a sweetner but also has anti-bacterial effect (has been used in some Asian countries for medicinal purposes for a long time) the X-clear could be helping a bacterial issue but he doesn't have that...it does effectively moisten the mucus membranes and of course can be helpful to address bacteria related issues. I use it occasionally when I think I am getting a virus, have nasal dryness, or have allergies and we both like it very much. I guess it would depend on the cause of your husband's sleep apnea - if he has obstructed airways he will probably also need a CPAC machine but X-clear might be good adjunctively. Good you are doing a sleep study. Note* Xylitol is VERY poisonous to dogs so be careful Fido doesn't get hold of the bottle because it is sweet and tasty!
