Active-C is a superíor form of Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
Great product, prefer the 1000mg serving, but have been having trouble locating lately.
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is fundamental to human health, basically nobody gets enough from food alone, and it is water soluble so the body needs to replenish its supply daily.
The Vitamin Shoppe Active-C formulations are Vitamin C in ascorbate (salt) form, where the ascorbic acid is combined with minerals like sodium and magnesium. This makes them gentler on the stomach, and preserves the potency of the ascorbic acid, which would otherwise be highly reactive to air and moisture in the environment.
Vitamin Shoppe Active-C and Active-C with Bioflavinoids include minimal filler and binder ingredients so even the 1000mg tablets are compact and easy to swallow.
I personally have taken 6-8 grams of Vitamin C daily (spread across 3-5 doses) for nearly 20 years.

excellent product
I've used active C for years, it doesn't upset the stomach and it is a strong immune booster, it always helps with cold and flu. I recommend it to anyone who wants a good product. It is large but it packs a punch. If you can't swallow large pills, go for powder, but if you want an easy delivery, this is it.

My husband has to take his iron supplement with a source of Vitamin C and this Active C doesn't cause stomach upset.

Bad batch
I have been using this product for several years, since Ester-C prices skyrocketed. I take a lot of C for adrenal support. I like that this is buffered with more valuable magnesium and potassium in addition to just calcium like Ester-C. My family has used more than a half dozen bottles of this large size Active C 1g over the last 2 years.
Last weekend I bought a new bottle and started have stomach pain and weakness. This happened a few times whenever I took my vitamin pills. So I stopped all my supplements and started adding them one at a time. The bad reaction returned when I took just 1 of these ActiveC pills. I normally take 5 at a time, 3 times a day, sometimes even on empty stomach. The mineral buffers normally prevent any stomach upset. There is something wrong with this bottle. They made me really sick before I realized which vitamins were the cause.
Sadly, I tossed the receipt because I trusted the quality of this product since I have used it for so long. VitaminShoppe will not refund without receipt, even though they recorded my purchase for the reward points program.
I have been and remain a loyal VitaminShoppe customer. I will buy vit C from another source until this batch blows through, and I will save my VitaminShoppe receipt from now on. I sincerely hope that this review will not be deleted.

Good Value
I have beeen taking vitianim C for years. I started using this one because of the price and it is easily digestabale. It is as good as the higher priced ones. I iiagree with all of the other comments.

Best Answer:  I think it's reliable, I mean I didn't have any trouble taking it. I would rather use more of a name brand but the last couple of years vitamins have gone through the roof in prices. So sometimes I use the vitamin shoppe label vitamins and they seem ok.

Best Answer:  Just looked at my bottle and it doesn't seem to be. Maybe call the VS. I like this form because of its absorbency and time release isn't that important for me in Vit C.
