I am unable to use the statin drugs. Would this along with diet be a good alternative or will I need to add other minerals,vitamins etc for best coverage? Thank you

Best Answer:  My Physicians Assistant recommended Red Yeast Rice and No-Flush Niacin to help keep cholesterol at a good level. I was unable to use the Red Yeast Rice, but I do take the No-Flush niacin. My husband has used both of the above for several years. He just had his cholesterol checked and it was good. His doctor told him to continue using these supplements. We are also careful to use eggs high in omega 3's, and USDA organic milk and butter, as well as anything else organic we can find, as well as our raw multi vitamin from Garden of Life. We believe these things all help. Good luck.

I'm currently taking Lipitor (atorvastatin) and want to switch to something more natural to help lower my cholesterol. My doctor won't take me off the statin until my levels go down and I lose weight. is it safe to take if taking a statin?

Best Answer:  I don't know for sure, but since Red Yeast Rice is natural it should not interfere with the statin. I wish she would consult someone who knows more about it.
