Probalby a great product but....

I want to love these, but man they are HORSE PILLS. I've tried twice and I can't swallow them. And I can swallow a half dozen normal size capsules in one go.

This is the product that keeps on giving!

This product has been my rock for over two years! I found out that I had terribly high cholesterol and that I needed to take care of it right away! We (doctor and I) talked about prescription medication, but I wasn't going to go down that road. I found that plant phytosterols would be great for my condition. I gave it a go, and decreased my cholesterol considerably. 10/10 would buy again (and I do, monthly, to take care of myself).

It helped, truly!

Spooked by a VERY high cholesterol count, I researched ways in which I could decrease it without statin drugs. For three months, I made super phytosterols a major part of my plan, and by golly, my total cholesterol went down 103 points!

I am curious about the real purpose of this product. Is it for cholesterol like the description says or is it for the prostate? Or both? If you take it with meals it works for cholesterol and if you take it between meals it is for the prostate? What effect have people seen with this? My knowledge of the Phytosterols is strictly for cholesterol as I am allergic to statins and non-statins. It was recommended to me by my cardiologist. It is difficult for me to evaluate it as my cholesterol is quite high. However it is not getting any higher. I am watching my diet closely (very). I do try to take them three times a day with meals. Also, I am female:0) so no prostate issue.

The Livestrong site perhaps has the best answer to your question. To summarize, it helps lower cholesterol, may help in the prevention of some cancers and skin protection. Literature shows that phytosterols are used with other compounds for prostate use but not by itself.

My doctor suggested that I take Super Phytosterols with meals to reduce cholesterol, and it has worked for me. Cholesterol and triglycerides are down and doctor is pleased. Being female, I can't address the effect on prostate problems.

I take it for cholesterol purposes. I have been taking phytosterols for many years, first from Endurance Products, and for a couple of years, I think, from Vitamin Shoppe. Frankly I don't know if it works, but I'm afraid to quit, as my cholesterol is pretty high. I have been OUT for a couple of weeks now, and am wondering, since it seems to be on a long backorder, if I should choose this time to quit.I do like "thinking" it works, and that my cholesterol would be higher without it!!E. The suggested dosage on the back label is 1 tablet (900mg) three times daily, preferably with a meal. I have been taking this supplement for a few years at the suggested level and have not noticed any side effects.
