Magnesium oxide?

As a pharmacist I would like to know why this form of magnesium was selected when we have so many other options that are better tolerated . Increased gastric motility ( diarrhea) doesn't seem to help yield the maximum absorption. The formulation seems like a good combination of thyroid support ingredients, I have only been on it for one month so as a patient I will continue for at least one more month before I redo my labs, but it does cause digestive discomfort even at half the recommended dose .
