  I do not know. I take this formula when I am about to consume large amounts of food such as I did yesterday when I ate lunch at an all you can eat Chinese buffet restaurant. It was very effective in enabling me to digest all the food I ate.

  I would say yes because I have a lactose sensitivity and some gluten and it works great for me!

  One of the nice things about plant based enzymes is that the concern for taking "too much" is minimal. The question I think you should be considering is how little will get the job (of assisting my digestion) done? I have experimented and found that three capsules a day works best for me. I was just taking with the morning meal and then before bed but I have found that one capsule with or after lunch keeps the 3 pm blahs away.

I you are concerned about tolerating even one capsule then I would recommend taking it with your largest meal of the day. I have no problem taking on a empty stomach so I do not expect you will have any trouble with this approach. Note how you feel 1 to 2 hours afterwards. If no change then take two with your biggest meal (you should not need more than that for one meal. Or take one with each meal. Everyone is different; being cautious is fine but you need to take enough so that you see a difference. If no difference then your digestive system probably does not need a supplement.

  Finding the correct dose can be hit or miss. I started out taking one capsule with each meal. I also take a probiotic each morning, and a fiber capsule with breakfast and dinner.

One Digest Gold capsule didn't prove to be enough, as I was still getting loose stools, so I increased it to two. That seemed to be the sweet spot for me. But it also doubled the cost of what is already a very costly supplement. I have changed the dose to one with breakfast and two each with lunch and dinner, and it l seems to be working most of the time. Still have to watch out for trigger foods.

All I can suggest is to start with one per meal and work your way up till you notice a difference.

I am going to try some less costly alternatives, but I suspect they will not work as well, as they have less amounts of each ingredient.

  Start by taking just one right before you eat dinner. The first time I took this product I felt something similiar to the "brain freeze" you get from eating ice cream. It only lasts a few seconds. After a couple of days add one capsule before each meal. After a week you should be able to tolerate one capsule before each meal and snack. I doubt you need more enzymes than this. If you still have other digestive issues you may want to look into taking some HCL and using Licorice root. I had to use all three products before I eleminated all my digestive issues. Eating fresh frutis and veggies also helps, as they still have their natural enzymes. Hope this helps. Pat

  You should start with 2, 2-3 times a day. You will be able to tell if it is too much! If it is, back off the amount and do just 1 2-3 times a day.
