Best Answer:  I purchased this for my 84 year old mother who has a history of TIA strokes. It was recommended in 'No more heart disease : how nitric oxide can prevent--even treat--heart attack and stroke'
by Louis J. Ignarro, along with some other good suggestions.

My bottle lists other ingredients as : vegetable capsule (hypromellose, gellan gum,) rice flour, magnesium stearate and silica. (90 count, 40 SPU) Lot # 406194. It does not state whether or not it is enteric coated. How do I find out if it is?

Best Answer:  My experience with the Vitamin Shoppe is that if a vitamin is enteric coated,they list it in the product description. If you see vegetable capsule. it is a vegetable based gelatin capusle.

Best Answer:  This is a plant based proteolytic enzyme, not animal based. Yes, the original was from silk-worms, but since then it has also been synthesized from plants. These types of enzymes can work in a ph of 2 to 9 without a loss of activity.

I just bought the exact same bottle of 90 capsules vitamin shoppe brand, but these ingredients say 120,000 units while the previous bottle says 40,000 units. Did they phase this one out?
