I must now take 1200 mg Calcium and varying amounts of Vit D so I'm so happy this product is only Calcium and not mixed with other vitamins so I may control what I need. Thank you. I did learn later it's best to divide up the portions verses taking all at once to ensure absorption. Morning and evening. I've taken these for 8 months now and an added benefit is stronger nails! As well as Calcium. Female, 54 yrs.

Comments about Solaray Calcium Citrate 1000 MG - 120 Capsules:

Given how the market has changed, there may not be many like me. For medical reasons, my body will not process calcium without a prescription source of Vitamin D called Calcitriol. This means that I CANNOT take OTC remedies with Vitamin D in it. A few months ago, I went searching for my usual Calcium product and found that no one had straight calcium anymore: no pharmacies, no grocery stores, absolutely no one. So, in desperation, I went to a Health Food store and found Solaray's Calcium Citrate 1000. It may be too big a hit for people with healthy parathyroids, but for those like me who require it, when taken properly, Solaray's product banishes every hypocalcemic symptom in a relatively short time. Kudos, Solaray, for sticking to basics! Hopefully, Vitamin Shoppe will bring out the 1000s for those of us in need!!

              how big are the pills?
A Vitamin Shoppe customer on May 27, 2014
Best Answer: The capsule is 7/8" long and 5/16" across, but don't let pill size worry you. I have found that HOW you swallow it is more important than size.

My personal feeling is that swallowing food that is not properly moistened (that is, not surrounded by enough water) is the real problem. So, put the pill on your tongue, just behind the curl of the tip. Then, *holding the pill right there*, take a swallow or two of water, THEN let the pill be washed down with more water.

Among my supplements I have several capsules that are noticeably larger than this calcium citrate, yet I can routinely swallow 4 capsules of the larger size all at once IF I send some water down my throat first.

And besides, aren't the bites of food that you swallow larger than these pills? I'd bet they are!

Hi. I have hypoparathyroidism... so I have to take 1800 mg three times a day. I just had bariatric surgery and cannot take pills. I really need to know if you place these in water, will they dissolve. I have bought 4 bottles of calcium citrate and they do not dissolve in water. I use to buy Calcium Citrate 630mg from Spring Valley and it dissolved so fast and it was not like sand going down. I need someone to tell me if this will dissolve in water and not need a hammer to crush them. Thanks a great deal and I appreciate it very much. (and this website MADE me put my address and personal information JUST so i could ask you this question :( :( )?
              Megan F on Mar 30, 2013
Best Answer: I also had bariatric surgery and was advised to take the Calcium Citrate chewable. It is much easier to take without having to swallow so many pills and vitamins. I take the 1000 mg and natural orange flavor from Solaray.

I am trying to find the best calcium CAPSULE or SOFTGEL with taking the least amount of capsules per day to get 1200 mg? I am age 65. I have a problem with ACID REFLUX and wonder if this product by Solaray (Calcium Citrate 1000 mg) would add to my acid reflux problem. I take 40mg of omeprazole each morning.
