Frequently Asked Questions

What are BCAAs?

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) include leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They support muscle growth and reduce muscle fatigue.

What does it mean to have a 2:1:1 BCAA ratio?

A 2:1:1 BCAA ratio indicates that a supplement has 2 parts leucine for every part isoleucine and valine. This ratio has been shown to support muscle protein synthesis, increase energy, and reduce exercise fatigue.

What is catabolism?

Catabolism is the breakdown of protein. When your body is under significant metabolic stress - like during high-intensity interval or resistance training - it can resort to catabolizing your muscles for energy. Supplementing with BCAAs helps prevent catabolism.

Directions

Mix one (1) scoop (6.9 g) with 6-8 fl. oz. of water or your favorite beverage. For best results, use before and after training and consume daily.

Recovery

Even though it's unflavored it has a weird after taste. Doesn't mix well with certain liquids.

Impossible to Take Due to the Taste

I really wanted to like this product, but unfortunately, the taste is absolutely terrible. I managed to take it for some days, but after that, just the act of mixing it would make my throat tighten in rejection. Swallowing it became almost impossible...it's genuinely awful.I'm disappointed. It doesn't matter how high the quality might be if I simply can't ingest it. A product like this should at least be tolerable in taste.

This is IT!

First and foremost do yourself a favor and buy the unflavored version. For me the flavored one gave me the most painful and long lasting (3 days) headache I have had in my entire life, I was moaning in pain :'( .Now when I got the unflavored version that the store kindly exchange, my mood, strength and workout skyrocketed wow! I don't need coffee to get the workout done beginning to end (45 minutes) my body composition is consistently getting better and better as my fat % is getting closer…

So gross without flavor

Omg it tastes so bad with just water ?? I got unflavored to mix with my pre workout, bad idea. Not sure how "unflavored" can have a taste but it does and it's disgustingggg on its own?. (I drink with pre workout then alone with just water during cardio).

AWFUL TASTE

This tastes awful! I've tried mixing it with juice, water, protein powder, electrolytes, etc. Nothing can mask the nasty taste. It also clumps together and doesn't mix into the liquid. End up having to spoon it out in chunks. I'd recommend buying a capsule BCAA instead. Can't tell if it's making a difference muscle wise, so rating 3 stars to give benefit of the doubt.

Not mixing well is a GOOD thing!

For those complaining about it not mixing well - that is a GOOD thing. The 3 main amino acids are hydrophobic, meaning they should repel water. Be very suspicious of BCAA products that mix completely; you likely aren't getting what you think you are and you are probably feeling the placebo effect.

If you are into clean products, this is the one.

This is a clean source of BCAA's...the complaints about "bad taste" or it "not dissolving" are because it doesn't contain artificial sweeteners and flavors. If you are into clean products this is the one. You can get used to the taste and the after taste doesn't ;last long. I take a swig of plain water after I drink this and I'm fine. I'd rather have a clean product, without artificial ingredients or energy stimulants, in my system and a few seconds of a bad taste, over a junk filled good tasting product any day.

Great!

People complaining about the taste are being a little much. It's like drinking flat sparkling water with a subtle aftertaste. Very drinkable and helps with muscle recovery. Will continue to repurchase again and again.

Horrible Taste

Let me start out by saying this product does what its suppose to. However all the reviews about it being bitter couldn't be more right. This tastes awful. I have it before working out and feel like throwing up before I can finish it. They sell a container of 59 servings. I have 50 still left. Really awful taste. Don't recommended.

Unsweetened, but very bitter flavor.

There's a difference between 'unsweetened' and 'unflavored', this does have a flavor... and that flavor is BITTER. I would not recommend mixing this with water. I typically take supplements powder straight and then Chase it down with the glass of water but this was unbearable , HUGE MISTAKE! You definitely want to add this to a smoothie with a variety of different flavors because this has an overwhelming taste to it. Besides that, it does what it's supposed to do. I swear by glutamine, one of my…

When do you take this product - before or after your workout?

ReginaJul 22, 2013

Depends on how intense the workouts are, usually after mixed with Whey protein. The muscles better absorb the product when they are damaged and in need of repair

I know people who take it before and after. I personally use it only after a workout with a whey protein isolate shake for recovery. This a hour+ workout.

After. It helps a lot with muscle recovery so I take it after any workout I think will cause me to be sore.

cameron e.Dec 4, 2015

I'm not an expert but you get both bcaa and glutamine from protein you can add it in the morning for daily use or depending if you use protein everyday or not. If not you can take it on your off day. But that's just my opinion on it. Hope it helps.
