      During a long illness and a major surgery I was very anemic. I needed iron supplements to gain my strength back, but most iron supplements upset my stomach. Hema-plex has not upset my stomach even when I haven't eaten first. My health has improved significantly and I will continue to use Hema-plex to improve my iron levels.       Really Does Work! Labs to Prove It
      So I've always struggled with my hemoglobin being on the "low" side of average - especially when pregnant. I'm thankful i found this supplement.       Does anyone know why Hema-Plex contains calcium, when it seems like everyone says that calcium inhibits iron absorption? Is that amount of calcium low enough that it doesn't have that effect?

        Good question. I do know that you are not supposed to take calcium with iron supplements. I have been taking Hema-Plex for about a year now and my Ferritin, RBC and Hematocrit levels have improved tremendously. Although the amount of iron in one pill is high, I have not had any stomach issues. The calcium level may be too low to make any different. This would be a good question for the manufacturer.

        Most probably, the formula is energetically balanced for highest absorbancy....being a FOOD BASED IRON SUPPLEMENT...general rules made by a great deal of scientists do not always gel with natural food based absorbancy and stomach acid breakdown.

        I do not know the exact answer. I was told to take this because of low SED rate--low iron. In addition to this I am also taking extra calcium.

        One more thing. The Vitamin C component is the important partner to the iron component. You should take Vitamin C with Iron.
