Vitex (Vitex agnus-castus) or Chaste tree is a traditional woman's dietary supplement. It is widely used to promote overall health and balance in a woman's cycle.

Directions

Adults take 1 capsule two or three times daily for 8-12 weeks. Thereafter, take 1 capsule daily. Best results obtained with continuous use. If you are pregnant, nursing, or taking any medications, consult a healthcare professional before use.

What is the source of gelatin for these capsules? Is there any other alternative medicine if this contains gelatin from beef/pork?

Best Answer:  Hi! it is a possibility. After I started taking it I lost about 10-15 lbs but I was also taking other natural supplements so I don't know if it was attributed strictly to the vitex.

Best Answer:  Not that I know of! It's common name is Chaste Tree berry and it is for balancing female hormones. It doesn't contain any hormones but it has been used for years to help balance the ratio of estrogen and progesterone in the body. I've used it for years and recommend it to anyone who suspects estrogen dominance.. Research it for yourself, I'm sure it has other uses as well. Hope this helps.

Best Answer:  Vitex increases progesterone levels, not estrogen levels. If you are experiencing issues with low estrogen, I would recommend that you try using Red Clover. It works really well. If you are looking for a healthy balance between estrogen and progesterone, then I would recommend Dong Quai.

Best Answer:  I did not use Vitex for acne so I do not know for sure that it would help you. If your acne is caused or exacerbated by too much estrogen, then Vitex should help considerably. It helps balance estrogen and progesterone levels in the body. I really like that it does this even though it does not contain any hormones.

Best Answer:  Vitex helps to regulate your periods. In doing so you can track your cycle easier and in turn the days that you are most likely to become pregnant.

Can you use this for low estrogen and progesterone? I've been menopause for 9 years (due to a hysterectomy) and my hot flashes are worse now than ever. I'm trying to regulate my levels naturally. Thank you.

Best Answer:  I did have good luck using Vitex for hot flashes during menopause. I don't experience hot flashes in post menopause, but I did take Nature's Way Vitex as directed on the bottle which is 1 tablet 3 times a day for 8 - 12 weeks and I have continued taking one tablet a day for healthy mood support with good results. I've never read about going off of Vitex for a number of months.
