The write up says it is gluten free but I wonder since barley contains gluten?

  Not sure if "Ultra" is truly gluten-free, but the regular "Primal Defense" is gluten-free and states it is "Gluten-free" on the label. I'm on a strict gluten-free diet due to Celiac's and the regular Primal Defense has posed not problems to my condition.-Rena

  The capsules are vegetarian, so I can only assume that they are gluten free.

  To get the 15 bn you have to take three a day, each giving 5 bn. I take one in the morning and one at night and am fine with it. Actually wouldn't recommend taking more than one a day until your body acclimates. I don't swear by much but think this is an excellent all-around health item. Healthy gut = healthy person.

  3 to 4, one with every meal. They work well but I've switched brands, InnovicLabs multi-strain probiotic. I now only take 2 a day, 1 with breakfast and 1 with dinner and seem to do much better.
Garden of Life is a good brand, which I took for many years. I just decided to try something different and it worked.

  I take one every morning on an empty stomach. If I'm having stomach problems, I do up to three per day (before meals).

I decided to also contact Garden of Life customer support and here is their response: "Thank you for your email and interest in Garden of Life's products. The probiotics used in our Primal Defense formulas do not need refrigeration because they remain dormant in a dry state and only activate when they become moist. This process begins when they are ingested and so activation will begin in the gut. If the products are refrigerated once opened the probiotics may become moist, and possibly activate before they are ingested. This goes for all of our Primal Defense formulas. Please store the Primal Defense in a cool dry place such as a kitchen cabinet/pantry."

  when I purchase this at my local health food stores, it is always in a cooler shelving unit, but not a actual refrigerator, but I do keep mine in my refrigerator at home. I always think any live probiotic should be refrigerated. But let be know if you know something different.

  The product label says to store in a cool dry place so you do not have to refrigerate this product. I usually store it in my pantry.

  Like with any probiotic, use and adjust based on your condition. Too much can cause bloating, so you need to give your system time to adjust. Garden of life offers great quality, but like with any supplement, always try and see how you feel. You may decide to take it every day or once a week. Remember that everyone's digestive system is unique.

  The capsules are vegetarian. I do not see inulin anywhere on the label, but I am not familiar with it. You may want to Google "Garden of Life" to make sure.

  They are the strongest. I see no reason why not. Not sure why you want a child to take but if not a medical type issue and just general health save money and get the regular ones.
