Product Info

About This Product

Zinc and copper share similar functions in the body. Both minerals are necessary for the development of the enzymes superoxide dismutase, an important antioxidant. A proper zinc to copper ratio is also important for healthy lipoprotein and cholesterol levels. The zinc and copper amino acid chelates in this product are derived from whole rice concentrate rather than ordinary soy, yeast or milk which are commonly used to chelate minerals.

Directions

Use only as directed. Take 1 VegCap daily with a meal or glass of water.

Warning

Store in a cool, dry place. Do not use if safety seal is broken or missing. Keep out of reach of children. Keep your licensed health care practitioner informed when using this product.

I love that I can get these minerals and nutrients together at a reasonable price. There is no digestive discomfort for me and I look forward to discovering continued benefits of adding the copper and pumpkin seed oil to my diet.

Is the correct Zinc and Copper for AMD?

Rosemary C JMar 11, 2013

Believe me I'm no expert but my understanding is that Zinc is a vital component in treating MAD with a recommended dosage of 50 to 80 Mg a day.In addition I've heard that Lutein, Bilberry, Zeaxanthin, Omega 3's and Vitamins C and E are also beneficial supplements. But obviously check with a qualified nutritionist with regard to efficacy and dosage. Good luck.

DanielMar 24, 2013

I was told I have something going on in my eyes that may be a precursor to AMD so I am following the AREDS recommendations for vitamins and minerals. The Solaray zinc copper, 50mg & 2mg, is one I'm using along with a plain 30 mg. zinc tablet from Nature's Plus as the recommendation was for taking 80mg. zinc and you need the 2mg copper if you're taking that much zinc. I've been doing this for 2 years and don't seem to be having any adverse effects. I probably won't know for years if it is actually helping or not, but it doesn't seem to be hurting me.

Sally AMar 11, 2013

Yes, but the supplement list I have recommends 80 mg of zinc, so I take an additional 30 mg zinc citrate tablet daily. One "side effect" seems to be great immune system function!

IS THIS PRODUCT HELPFUL FOR THINNING HAIR?

A shopperJan 14, 2014

For hair/skin/nail strength I take biotin. You can find information about vitamins, minerals, etc., as well as information regarding specific problems, in Phyllis A. Balch's excellent book, "Prescription for Nutritional Healing."

joan bJan 15, 2014

I gave it to my husband who struggles with thinning hair but it didn't help or at least not noticeably. I still have him take it because it supports men's testosterone levels. It did, however, get rid of my greying hair and minor acne I got every once in awhile. I hope it works for you, though. Good luck!

Alex PJan 14, 2014

I don't know if this helps with hair. I use it for immune system support.Good luck!

Combine the properties of two important trace minerals in one convenient formula with copper and zinc supplements. Get Solaray zinc copper capsules in 100-serving bottles at The Vitamin Shoppe.

Properties of Copper and Zinc

Zinc helps hundreds of enzymes carry out important chemical reactions. These include processes involved in immune response, nerve function, antioxidant protections and growth and development. Copper is also used by the body for biochemical processes, including iron metabolism and forming healthy red blood cells. It also plays a role in the growth and maintenance of cartilage, connective tissue and bone.

While zinc plays a role in healthy immune system function, it may be necessary to take this mineral along with copper since higher zinc levels in the body could lower copper levels.

Zinc Copper Supplements by Solaray

Solaray’s zinc and copper supplements offer 50mg of zinc and 2mg of copper. That’s an ample supply of 333% of the recommended daily value of zinc and 100% of the recommended daily value of copper in each capsule.
