I am a serial purchaser. Ongoing issue with capsules: most full, many half-full, some EMPTY. NOT a 1-time issue, but ongoing complaint. Don't know how many full capsules received (didn't count), don't know if packed by weight, or supposedly by electronic-eye count.

Not enough fiber
One capsule twice a day as directed is about 1.5g of fiber. Considering the RDA for fiber is 20-30g or more, it doesn't make much of a difference. Seems like a powder that provides 5+g would be a lot better and a lot easier to swallow than 7 capsules.

Didn't work for me
I thought I'd try it since it's easier to swallow a pill than to take a fiber drink. However, it doesn't work for me. After a few days, I was constipated. I increased it to 2 pills a day per instructions but that didn't work either.

No nutrition facts makes it unclear what you're getting in the diet.
There is no nutrition label on the bottle/packaging, so you don't know what percentages of anything you're taking. Especially the fiber content. Complete mystery. HOWEVER, I will make this observation: The fiber content must be very low, because it takes 12 capsules (8,640 mg) to barely make an impact. I feel that the product is not 100% psyllium husk power and is mixed with other fillers.

disappointed
not what I thought it was tried to cancel a few minutes after ordering was told can't its processing.been waiting for a month for item I need and it's still not in stock.guess it's time to find new source as I did for a different item and quit vitamin shoppe for good.

I like the product very much. I would ask Vitamin Shoppe to please add to the label the amount of fiber in each serving.

  Yes, it does. You may get some slight cramping in the abdomen at first, but that is normal according to my doctor. I suggest starting with just 1 capsule per day.

scanning this into my app it shows as 8.4g of fiber per capsule. Is that correct? What's the carb count per capsule

  I have no idea. I take 3 daily on the advice of my physician who recommended it for cholesterol and regularity.

Best Answer:  Depending on the raw materials used, some products would have naturally occurring heavy metals. Products which contain natural ingredients will commonly contain trace amounts of lead due to the soil that they are grown in. In most products, Lead levels may vary slightly between batches and manufacturers cannot control the level of Lead in these natural products. The Vitamin Shoppe tests all finished products for heavy metals to ensure they are below the FDA's limits.

Hi. I bought this product yesterday. I was looking for the psyllium husk with acidophilus capsules, but when I was in the store it appeared that you aren't selling that anymore. So I bought this product, the "Psyllium husk". I noticed on the label that the "other ingredients" were gelatin and acidophilus... But it doesn't mention acidophilus on the front label, and it doesn't tell you how much of it is in them. The product that you all used to carry not long ago (psyllium with acidophilus) said it had 4 billion organisms per serving. The new product doesn't specify or mention it at all, I just happened to see it as an additional ingredient. I would like To know how much of the acidophilus is in the new version of the product? I really like the psyllium and acidophilus combination that I bought from you all about 5-6 months ago, and was disappointed to see you aren't carrying it anymore. I appreciate your information/feedback. Thank you.

  What is important is the total amount of fiber you consume per day. A minimum of 25 grams per day is recommended by Heart Associations while wholistic Doctors believe it should be in the low 30 grams.So the amount you need of this supplement, where a capsule is almost a gram, depends on how much food based fiber you are consuming. So, if you have a prepackaged meal, for example, it will tell you how many grams of fiber. Normally you will see fiber content is very low. A slice of even vegetarian pizza will have only 1 gram of fiberPersonally if I'm eating a sandwich with bread, pasta, other carb rich foods, I will take an additional half dozen or so of these capsules to help balance the high carb, low fiber food content. Normally I take a few several times throughout the day. Fiber supplementation is one of the most important supplements we can take. Hope this helps Richard.Norbert

  A serving size is (1) capsule; however the directions call for taking one or two capsules one or two times per day with a minimum of 8 pz of water. I take two every night with my other medications. I have used this product VS-2182 (600 capsules) for 28 years. There are 880 mg of Psylium (Plantago ovata) (husk) (fiber) and 10 mg of Lactobacillus acidophilus in each capsule. I've taken it to keep my colon clean. The Acidophilus keeps the ph balance in your colon with 10 mg of 'good' bacteria. It provides (4 million live organisms) in each capsule at the time of encapsulation. Those organisms are the good bacteria. The product is the best for the money!

Gail, thank you for that reply, but if you look at the bottle of Metimucil, 6 capsules (525mg each) is equivalent to 3 grams of fiber. I've also been told by my doctor to take 6 capsules of Metimucil 15-30 minutes before each meal. This will gel and coat your stomach to help balance out the carbs. I was able to find the information on the Metimucil web site about the size of each pill. Thank you again.
